Our defence has looked solid as a rock this season. Now, it's always been pretty good for sure, but maybe Pellegrino's influence has taken it that bit further this year. We also seem to be coping better at corners etc this season with the dreaded "zonal marking" debate. Maybe he has been able to instruct that as well seeing as he played in that system at Rafa.

Cue 4-0 drubbing on Sunday with all goals coming from corners!!

:D

Despite him not contributing much on the field when he was here the first time, according to everything I've heard and read, his biggest input was on the training field, where he helped get the defence to understand the nuances and intricacies of zonal defending. He was Rafa's organiser at Valencia (as Carra is now), and is seemingly a good coach from what we've seen so far. Long may it continue.

I was thinking about this myself the other day, Pellegrino's influence on our defence & seem to remember someone on here posting about how paco was always the one who would be closer to the players etc, wonder if sammy is doing that now and what effect its having on the team?

i like his face during the match, sitting next to Rafa, who true to his usual form grumbling on incessantly - Pelligrino looks like he's listening to his Mrs and knows very well better to keep his own mouth shut :D

I'm still in shock that this thread started with a positive post from Gravy.

Is that a sign of the apocalypse? ;)

LOL now now Jimmy, that sort of humour doesn't become you!!

The fella that was sat next to Rafa last season (probably one of the Pako Posse) just looks miserable and bored now.

Noticed how classy Carra is starting to look now.

Still the same aggression but seems to be so cool while patrolling his area. It seems like he's had an insight into reading the development of play and is already there to defend it quicker rather than the gut busting charges to cover

Now that you've mentioned it, I think your assessment rings true.

Had we conceded many more goals by this stage of last season or the season before ?

We'd conceded the same amount this time last year (2), the season before we'd conceded 8 by this time.
