floyd the barber Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 no, cos he wasnt happy not being consistently in the first team..plus was poor on the times we saw him last season Arbeloa has done a decent job there....if he gets injured/suspended...then carra goes right back, agger and skrtel c-bks.. Easy
Guest GrandpaSimpson Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 But we sold hims*** Bad move? He still has a year left in him, so yes.
alias75 Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 We have Carragher and i also think Darby should get a chance. Its a shame Degen needed game time cos Darby could have played tonight.
Guest Ant Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 Speaking of Darby, would be interesting to see if he pushes his way through onto the subs bench over the next few weeks. Would have liked to have seen him tonight like
Guest Ant Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 'Degen going to hospital, cracked ribs and had needle in chest to relieve trapped air' Text off the Dad
libero Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 'Degen going to hospital, cracked ribs and had needle in chest to relieve trapped air' Text off the DadDegen=the new sicknote
jimmylibel Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 If Rafa wanted him gone he needed to go. Besides which, as big a fan of Finnan as I was (most consistant right back in Europe at his peak as far as I was concerned) he clearly was on the downward slope and he was poor last season and not getting any younger.
Drexl Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 Finnan was the best rb in the league for three years, but he did not seem the same player last season. I think Rafa was right in letting him go, and hopefully he'll have a good couple of seasons in a league thats physically less demanding I have no idea if Darby is going to be a player, Degen is obviously related to Aurelio, and Arbeloa is good enough.
Guest Ant Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 Finnan was no worse or no better than Carra last year. I really think it was a big mistake letting him go.
LondonRed Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 'every time he plays were always winning, we had a left back called traore, thats a different storry'
Hassony Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 Arbeloa has been excellent in his last four games finnan can't get in the espanyol side at the moment
RP Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 'every time he plays were always winning, we had a left back called traore, thats a different storry' Interesting version.
LondonRed Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 Arbeloa has been excellent in his last four games finnan can't get in the espanyol side at the moment Agreed, i think arbeloa has been in tremendous form recently, doing the right things in defence - seems to have built an understanding with the other 3 to hold the line, and when joining the attacks putting in some great balls..lets hope it continues. Its a shame that degan has got injured again though, we dont need arbeloa getting complacent, but maybe it'll give steven darby a chance to play with the 1st team from time to time? thought he was excellent in pre season.
Smith Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 There's a curse on our full backs and it started with Rob Jones. At least Johnny Ginger was healthy...
LondonRed Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 Interesting version. you dont like? i remember some reds singing it on the trainn ride to the Olympic Stadium in Athens and thought it was hilarious at the time.
Chili Palmer Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 I thought Finnan looked very poor last season, I can see why Rafa let him go. Arbeloa has been fine this season.
RP Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 you dont like? i remember some reds singing it on the trainn ride to the Olympic Stadium in Athens and thought it was hilarious at the time. Were they playing some kind of game where they left whole sections out of songs and had to guess what the missing words were?
John am Rhein Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 There's a curse on our full backs and it started with Rob Jones. or even Jim Beglin
honourablegeorge Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 or even Jim Beglin I curse at Jim Beglin all the time.
John am Rhein Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 I curse at Jim Beglin all the time. He remains a curse
LondonRed Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 (edited) He remains a curse so jim beglin with the other iTV crew, steve ryder and andy townsend were in the same restaurant as me last week at the marseille game. andy townsend decides to get up and leave shorty after he finished his meal, my mate tells me he done the same thing last year because he cant take the drink - the rest of the crew sat there for a long while after we left getting smashed.Pity i didnt know jim beglin was being an ass on the night with his commentry..could have given him a few choice words...
