anny road Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 thats three games now Boro, Utd and Marseille where we have come from behind to win in difficult circumstances a very very very good sign, imo
Mike Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 its a very good sign. something we could never do under gerard.
stressederic Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 I agree. Also considering that we were tiring in the 2nd half there was only that chance at the end in the second half where I actually thought we might concede. I feel momentum building up.
anny road Posted September 16, 2008 Author Posted September 16, 2008 its a very good sign. something we could never do under gerard. yeah its a massive difference and now I get the feeling that we are going to hang onto results like tonight, even at the end i wasnt overly concerned, they didnt create that much i like it id rather us be battering teams obv but ill take this at the moment i think sat could be a defining moment. We need to win first and foremost, and i would take 1-0...but thats me but if we can score early and and give them a shoe-ing then go into the derby full of it....i see bright times ahead

johngibo YPC Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 Yeah i think the next two league games against Stoke and Everton are huge
Rory Fitzgerald Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 Riera and Babel look very good when they are out wide. Gerrard behind a fully fit Torres is potent. Just like Agger, let Keane's performances displace one of them, otherwise let him do what Babel did in his first season - stake a claim from the bench. Against the likes of Stoke next week I would let Dirk rest his bones on the bench and stick Riera and Babel on each wing and really stretch a limited team to let Gerrard and Torres do damage. Oh yeah, good point Anny Road on the 3 comebacks
Swipe Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 Masch may be rested on Saturday though. Looked bit tired. In that case, i'd stick Stevie back into the middle with Xabi, and play Riera, Keane and Babel behind Torres. With Stevie still beinga able to get forward from the middle, Stoke won't know what f***ing hit them
anny road Posted September 16, 2008 Author Posted September 16, 2008 i dont see Masch playing saturday, sorry he looked f***ed...he has jsut come back from Argentina and worked his nads of Sat v Utd nah, play Gerrard and Alonso in the middle...play Babel right, Riera Left......Keane and Torres up top i thought he may go three at the back on Sat, but I think he will bring Agger in and push Carra to LB or RB
Guest spk Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 for a bit and then reverted to long ball w*** and looked very very flustered every time attacked. scoreline aside tonights game was not positive.
mathewbet1 Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 Stoke - Good game for Degen to be introduced?
fyds Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 we should play our strongest team sat. alonso and masch in the middle. get the game won, i don't want fringe players making it more difficult than it has to be. crewe on the tuesday night is the time to give everyone else a go. then its a full week till everton with the strongest xl out again. If they're all fit, can't argue with that.
anfield Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 its a very good sign. something we could never do under gerard. revisionism at its best. We'v done the same under Gerard and seen similar threads on this forum and its all come to naught.
JRC Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 revisionism at its best. We'v done the same under Gerard and seen similar threads on this forum and its all come to naught.Wasn't one of the most damning stats from Ged's time that we hardly ever came back to win if we went behind first? 3 times this season already is pretty impressive whatever the stats under Ged were.
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 we shouldn't need Masch at home to Stoke. Although I do believe in playing your strongest - Xabi, Gerrard, Riera & Babel isn't exactly a s**** 4 in MF
Papasmurf Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 revisionism at its best. We'v done the same under Gerard and seen similar threads on this forum and its all come to naught. Why talk b******s if you're not even going to make a joke out of doing it? And what's with the word `revisionism` ? Has everyone just discovered it recently? Has Dictionary.com been putting on a promotion? Every time someone points out the obvious, whether or not they've got their own ideas as to why that is, and regardless of the act that they may just have come to the conclusion themselves, it's "revisionism"..... Using the word revisionism has actually become revisionist. If you fail to have no idea what that doesn't mean.
floyd the barber Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 we came back to win games plenty of times under Gerard..lets not do the man a dis-service, we also finished 2nd in the league under houllier.....without the changes he made we wouldnt have been where we are now. anyway, fantastic to comeback like we have.....
billybunter Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 i like Houllier but we rarely won games when we conceded first.
nashman Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 we came back to win games plenty of times under Gerard..lets not do the man a dis-service, we also finished 2nd in the league under houllier.....without the changes he made we wouldnt have been where we are now. anyway, fantastic to comeback like we have..... Definitely not in the later half of his reign mate. Remember in Rafa's first year when we won 4-2 against fulham with Igor scoring the fourth goal. That was the first time in like 2.5 years when we had come back from behind to win in the league. I dunno the exact period of time but it was something incredibly long.
budgie Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 we came back to win games plenty of times under Gerard..lets not do the man a dis-service, we also finished 2nd in the league under houllier.....without the changes he made we wouldnt have been where we are now. No we didn't. We went between 2-3 years without doing it. The point is we certainly didn't do it 3 times in the last 5 games like we have just done. It is indeed a very positive sign.
Guest Ant Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 Rafa needs to play his strongest team v Stoke
Hassony Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 Rafa needs to play his strongest team v Stoke Whats his strongest team? Hyypia, agger, Keane, Reira, Alonso, aurellio all didn't play yesterday and they could still come in and the team would be as strong
Stevie H Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 Whats his strongest team? Hyypia, agger, Keane, Reira, Alonso, aurellio all didn't play yesterday and they could still come in and the team would be as strongand mascherano clearly needs a rest.
