sean Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 (edited) To Rafa not having the balls to make the required changes? Was delighted when he did. A real statement that he's got his priorities ok. Good decision to leave Torres on his arce too, what with the rate of effort being given by the front 2 during the game. charlie clown Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 It took more cojones to not make the changes Gray was recommending, becasue winning without them would have been against all of the Sky hype expectations.
Hassony Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 Gray was desperate for us not wo win to bring up the "torres/ Gerrard not starting" chestnut
Bailo Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 Sky were making out he'd benched them out of some defensive masterplan, utterly surreal.
Benitez Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 Gray was so tedious (more than usual), whining on about bringing on Torres. So glad that Rafa brought on babel instead for the winner! Plus he was whining on about making two subs at the same time, like that is some tactical masterstroke. Lucky had a sub left to take the place of an injured player later on isn't it. Gray had no idea how fit Torres was. Fact is, he was probably there for emergency only. Controlling the game as we where, wasn't an emergency. Who knows, if you could still only list 5 subs, he may not have made the bench. There is a reason Gray is a 2nd rate pundit, and not actually working for a professional football club.
John am Rhein Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 I'm so glad the sound was turned down as I watched that game on Sky
Swipe Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 I mentioned it in the match thread. Gray was talking about it for a full 20 minutes from the start of the second half. Was clearly setting it up so he could have another dig at Rafa if he didn't bring the two of them on and we didn't win. Even when Stevie came on, he was bleating about Torres. He actually said at one point: "Well, i'd bring on Torres too if it was me". Thank f*** it's not you t***. He made no reference to it after we scored the winner, too. Surely, after making such a fuss he should have commended Rafa from brining on Babel who won the match, and for being able to beat the champions without risking our star striker, who has suffered the type of injury that has a habit of recurring if you come back too soon. Sky give no respect to Rafa whatsoever. He'd never criticise Ferguson, Wenger or Mourinho (back in the day) the way he does with Rafa. Constantly berating his decisions and questioning him. Even on saturday he made a remark about Rooney being played out of position. He quickly realised who he was questioning and added "but who am I to question the greatest manager this league has ever seen". Bunch of c**** working for that company.
ManxRed Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 So that's one game where he's actually definitely rotated Torres now. That's the end of our season then. Sky will have a field day in May about this.
anny road Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 tbf the tedious oik that is Redknapp held his hands up after i watched it yesterday and he said that everyone in the studio was banging on about getting Torres and Gerrard on but that Rafa got it right, and praised him
Stevie H Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 andy gray's a coward. was offered managerial jobs and didn't have the balls to take them on.
Chili Palmer Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 So that's one game where he's actually definitely rotated Torres now. That's the end of our season then. Sky will have a field day in May about this. You forgot that Rafa subbed Torres at Villa when the game was 0-0, Defeatest attitude. The other managers from the top 4 would have left him on.
charlie clown Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 ay, but you can bet your bottom dollar that the next time Rafa decides not to start with either Nando or Gerrard, Redknapp will have completely forgotten this and will be spouting some 'for me, its a no-brainer, if your best players are fit, they start' bollix.
Guest Ant Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 To be fair Benitez did say Torres and Gerrard where match fit. But he was tactically spot on v the Mancs, Redknapp said he was and so did Phelan.

Mate of mine made that point in the pub afterRooney plays brilliant (by all accounts) up front for England on Wednesday. On saturday he is playing on the wingCan you imagine if Rafa had done that? And lost the game?

downunder Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 Does it really matter what the F*** they say on TV, They have an opinion, and need to be controversial to get response.
John am Rhein Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 For me it's a no brainer, Redknapp's a tw*t and Gray's an anti-Liverpool anti-Benitez b*stard
honourablegeorge Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 Does it really matter what the F*** they say on TV, They have an opinion, and need to be controversial to get response. Souness was very much opposed to Redkanpp#s mewling about Gerrard playign central mid.

Stevie H Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 So has RafaMore than those g*******s anywayoh aye absolutely. i'm just glad i don't have to suffer sky any more. it's much better watch a studio with three thai blokes in it where you've not a clue what they're going on about.
Hassony Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 Souness will sit there and openly admit to being a fan. He is the best pundit they use - regardless of his loyalties and you can see it in his eyes that he can't stand Redknapp or Keyes Keyes tried to bring the debate for Gerrard in the centre after watching Mascherano and alonso totally over powering the united midfield
