I recognise all that he's done for them, I hate him but you have to admit he's been great for them...

but have to wonder at what point Ferguson puts him in the bin alongside Ratface, with a little space for the forthcoming Giggs?

Yesterday Anderson was doing Scholes' job as well as his own, you could see how knackered he was..

I think Giggs has more life in him for a season or two..

Ferguson wasted a lot of money trying to replace Keane and never really did it. I think it'll be equally difficult for him replace Scholes and Giggs. Anderson and Nani may well fill that void, but it'll be a question of whether or not Scholes and Giggs can keep going until replacements are able to step into the team full time.

I think it's the opposite, it was only the other week Scholes completely controlled the game at Portsmouth. I've not seen a brilliant game from Giggs for ages now.

agree, I think Ferguson worried more about replacing the captain, rather than the player.

I think Anderson shows that he can be a good player, but yesterday he couldn't play the way he wanted as he was covering Scholes all game pretty much. Scholes sat on the edge of the box where he's most deadly, and in his day he would have pinged a couple of shots in at goal, but he missed both opportunities completely and looked well off his game. If it was only a matter of a couple of weeks since he bossed a game then maybe I shouldn't judge him, but have thought it for a while.

Giggs and Scholes are the two remaining iconic players of that 'era' and if Anderson and Nani are being brought in to replace them then I can see that being sooner rather than later in at least one of the cases. No doubt Scholes will follow Solskjaer into some kind of management/coaching role at the club, hopefully in the tackling dept.

I hate him because of that picture where his little ginger c*** pops out of his shorts and the fact that whenever anyone mentions his name, that's the image I get in my head.

Strange this thread. I thought Scholes was their best midfielder on Saturday?

I even commentated that he's still a class your average midfielder.

Opinions.... they're like a******s etc etc

Not a typical Manc for sure.

Not an arrogant,busy gobs*te like Cantona,Neville,Whiteside etc.

Not your typical footballer in that respect, always thought he was a decent person and a great player.

Also reckon Anderson will come good for the mancs

Thought he was poor. Actually felt abit sorry for him. It must be s**** to 'lose it'

He'll probably be playing for Oldham next season

Hes a banker to finish up with Sunderland.

Thought both were poor on saturday for them. Our boys bossed the midfield. Anderson didn't really get a kick after the first few minutes and Scholes wasnt in the game at all.

For the first time on Saturday I thought we were seeing his swansong. Legs looked gone, and he used to run everywhere all day. Methinks this time at 33 the end is nigh.

He's a mad Oldham fan.

I always thought that he would just retire after Man Utd but if thats true he might end up there. Keane did the same with Celtic, just pop off to play a few games for your boyhood club, it must be nice being that f***ing lucky.

agree, if there was any game in the season where he would be up for it, it would be that one, but like you say, he looked far from up for it.

Don't mind Scholes either.

Not when you put him in persepective against Neville, Ferdinand, Cantona, Ronaldo etc.

Although the fact his shocking tackling is seen as almost whimsical and charming by most commentators has always irked me.

Still, easily one of the best players of his generation.
