Hassony Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 Showed us today why he is the best in the world, Very Quiet day for him yet he produces one world class save from Giggs that help us win the game still not as good as Cech or James though!
Swipe Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 Clearly the best in the league now. Reina and Cech are miles better than the rest, but I think Pepe has overtaken Cech now. Not that anyone other than us will give him due credit!
CaptainXabi Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 IMMENSE. He doesn't even need 5 games to bed in anymore.
Sion Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 It's amazing how under-rated he is. For some strange reason other fans use the Everton game as a stick to beat him with, when Cech and VDS have had many more error-strewn games. I think it's partly down to him not playing to the cameras with one handed dives etc... and instead just have great positioning. Highlighted by that clearance he did today from the terrible back-pass.
libero Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 IMMENSE. He doesn't even need 5 games to bed in anymore.Could have had bed on the 6 yard line for all he had to do in the second half, one shot from distanace that was it.Thought the whole defence made man u look ordinary today.
allawee Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 For me, been the best in the PL for a long time. I like him and feel confident with him if we have to defend a corener, free kick and even penalties. Would not swap him with Buffon or Casillas.
mathewbet1 Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 i can feel a song coming on................
g0atface Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 ASton Villa away sold it for me Pepe is the best keeper in the league by miles, he was swweping, kicking with both feet and made important saves when needed. IMO our "good" start to the season is largely down to him.
Dmitch Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 hes such a great keeper... hope he can keep his form and play a huge part towards number 19 and more. Hope he keeps his great form and stays with us for many many years! Future LFC legend

Highlighted by that clearance he did today from the terrible back-pass. Amazing as it was 2 years now ASton Villa away sold it for me Pepe is the best keeper in the league by miles, he was swweping, kicking with both feet and made important saves when needed. IMO our "good" start to the season is largely down to him. No doubt. He has been our best performer this season so far by some distance.
CarraLegend Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 I have so many arguments with knobheads about him, others seem to genuinely believe he's a clown who's bailed out by a good defence, it's crazy. The fact anyone slagging him off just goes on about 1 mistake 2 years ago when the game was over anyway says it all really. He's s*** hot, incredible keeper.
Guest RedLegend Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 Best keeper in the league since Cech started dropping clangers. I'm sure he'll still be portrayed as a dodgy keeper though knowing Sky.
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 Had a blue & a boro fan watching with me today & they were commenting on how f***ing good he is.
psl Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 Most fans seem to rate Cech, Van Der Sar, Given and Friedel above him. Which is crazy.
stressederic Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 Most fans seem to rate Cech, Van Der Sar, Given and Friedel above him. Which is crazy. Given and Friedel have always played behind dodgy defenenders which mean they get plenty of chances to make decent saves and aren't expected to keep clean sheets. They're good goalkeepers for the "save of the season" videos but aren't in the same class as Pepe and Cech
Anfield Fox Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 He's won the last 3 Golden Gloves. Never mentioned though is it? The Barclays Golden Glove is an award for a goalkeeper in the Barclays Premier League. It is awarded to the goalkeeper who kept the most clean sheets in the season. Liverpool FC's Jose Reina won this award in the 2005/2006 season with 20 clean sheets. Reina won the award for the second year in a row in the 2006-07 season, with 19 clean sheets. Reina also won the award in the 2007-2008 season keeping 18 clean sheets. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barclays_Golden_Glove
Cooger Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 Wouldn't swap him for any other keeper around. Wouldn't swap Gerrard, Torres or Mascherano for any other players in their position either. Some team Benitez has built.
abc Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 Most fans seem to rate Cech, Van Der Sar, Given and Friedel above him. Which is crazy. I'd say most keepers in the league are very good to excellent shot stoppers. However, the top keepers have that extra edge to them. Reina is excellent with his feet, very quick and decisive (though makes the occasional wrong decision) and has excellent reading of the game. It's the sweeper side of his game which is so underrated - you almost have to have him play for your team to realise how good he is at coming out and preventing one on one chances. If I were critical though, I think he has a weakness (in contrast to other areas of his game which are so strong) which is the covering of the near post. That Gomes from Spurs looks a proper one too, bit of a throwback to the old school goalie who came out and caught everything (mind you I only saw MOTD highlights against Chelsea in the previous game).
D.Boon Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 I think non Liverpool fans are now giving Reina due credit and he is being recognised as an outstanding keeper.

Alonso Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 Think he's got 84 clean sheets in 162 appearances.
Sion Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 I have so many arguments with knobheads about him, others seem to genuinely believe he's a clown who's bailed out by a good defence the same knobheads then go on about how our defence is over-rated and our full-backs crap.doesn't really add up.
Stevie H Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 he makes goalkeeping look simple. such a class act.
