Good substitution and all, but shouldn't he just be played up front with Riera kept on the wing?

Riera was tiring, perfect substitution.

the boys actually pretty good! not that i can understand it but i like the flow, like some of the french hip hop.

i still love the one from here though...

'what do we do..

usually kuyt, usually keane, usually babel..'

quailty, find myself singing that at work

Babel - that little flick he did on the far left by the goal line was genius yesteday...very barnes-esque..id o see the barnes comparisms.....they have that same balance and grace of movement........we could have some player If ryan really wants to believe in himself and take that step up.....there are some huge positives with him..but also huge dissapointments..ie his crossing is appalling....

This guy could be the real deal if nurtured correctly.

Can't understand the criticism Babel gets, he's just a kid and in the 14 months he's been has scored some important goals and showed flashes of brillance. He'll be a player.

I think people are just frustrated when they can see how good he can be and yet in many cases he fails. Having said that he needs all the encouragement he can get as I remember how shocked & upset he looked once last season when the crowd were on his back. He doesn't need that!

Was delighted for him after the miserable b*****d 4 rows in front of me booed him ONTO the pitch.

If I sat closer, Kev would be throwing me out.

now now Phil....dont be telling people how to behave at the match, it isnt right you know

it make you a super fan and anally retentive

He took his goal really well yesterday, it would have been easy to sky it but he got over it well. He unsettles defenders as soon as he gets on the pitch no matter who the opposition is.

The big thing for me is that Babel runs at defenders. Defenders f***ing hate that. Its not the Kevein Kilbane school of attcking the defender either. The kid is good.

the abuse he gets off forumites and others is the typical short-termism you come to associate with modern day football fans. Freeze dried sucess just add water. Unfortunately its just not like that. The kid moved from a different country into a different live. He is a qualtiy player and we will see it whether its this season or next.

I actually thought he was a bit fotunate, he hit it into the ground and it looped up into the net, there is no way that is excactly how he intended to hit it. Strange thing is as well that sometimes you see those hit cleanly and they just ping away to safety off a defenders chest.

For me, it kind of summed him up in many ways - he doesn't always look the most skillful, graceful or composed (if there is one player I WOULDN'T compare him to just yet it is Barnes), but there is very definitely already an end product from him. That is some big goals and some big assists he has notched up now. It isn't a bad habit to have - a bit like Ian Botham having the knack of taking wickets with s*** balls.

What now needs to happen is for his confidence to grow and for the flashes of skill that he has shown (like the bit on the byeline to set up the Kuyt chance) to become a regular feature of his game. I think it can happen and believe that handled correctly, it will happen.

For the time being he can simply be very proud of having already made two vital contributions to our season.

It was a bouncing ball and it bounced up just as he shaped to hit it, he got his knee in exactly the right position. There were 2 on the line and and one of ours and he still got it in the right spot. Took it well.
