Admittedly Scotland have defied all odds and historically been even more rubbish than England but there were plenty of external reasons for this, most notably the non selection of 'Anglo' players.

The list of players they've produced is staggeringly good. Dalglish, Souness, Johnstone, Law, Bremner, White, Hansen and Mackay are surely up there with any eight players England have ever produced? You might argue that Johnstone never proved it in a decent league but the fact that Celtic fans regard him as their greatest ever player, and therefore presumably better than the King, speaks volumes. Then you've got other Scottish league legends like John Greig and Jim Baxter as well as top performers like Leeds' Eddie Gray and our own Ian St.John.

Some of you are actually old enough to have seen most of these players play, so take it away old c****, name your all time Scotland and England sides and speculate on which one is better.

it's doubtful Hansen would make a Scotland XI - MacKay, McNeill, Greig, Miller, McLeish to name but a few would probably be ahead of him.

I'm not sure who the keeper would be but my XI

GK: Goram

RB: McGrain

LB: Grieg

CB: MacKay

CB: McNeill

RW: Johnstone

CM: Souness

CM : Bremner

LW: Baxter

FW : Dalglish

FW : Law

Struggled for a right back, so put Nicol down out of blind bias.

edit : I thought McGrain was a LB for some reason.

Libero might have some names I've missed.

Andy Goram the best you've ever had, better than Bill Brown? and 'Big' Jim Holton instead of Buchan!

Mind, ferguson left Hansen at home for a world cup when he was in charge, preferring Evans and McLeish as I recall. Must be a Jocko thing..

Anyway, this England team would whup any Jock X1.

I've heard a lot about Bremner, and Souness of course. Wouldn't those two in midfield be particularly frightening?

just get Steve Bennett to ref it and those 2 c**** wouldn't make it out of the tunnel

I'm presuming that this is 2001 Owen otherwise I'd rather have Greaves or Clough (B).

Isn't modern day football s***

Clough? Might as well put Steve Bull up, Greavesy fair enough but two things to remember...

Owen at 18 was THE hottest prospect of all time, unbelievable, never forget how good he was PLUS there's two mancs in my team.

Holton was an oaf, a big lumbering useless toothless manc c*nt. As for keepers, Haffey was the man, Francis Haffey, look him up....
