This has been agreed upon as a course of action at today's meeting.

Royal Bank of Scotland are the Main Financers of Tom Hicks and George Gillett in their ownership of Liverpool Football Club. They borrowed the initial money, £350 million, from them, and subsequently approached them about finance for the new stadium which as we know, has been turned down. However, RBS still have a vital role to play. The initial re-financing of the club, the £350 million, is due for renewal or to be paid in full in January 2009. There is an option of a 6 month extension – However this is at Royal Bank of Scotland's discretion. If they say no, the American Owners cannot change that. So let's send a message to RBS. Lets send a message to Tom Hicks and George Gillett. And lets send a message to anyone who may have considered offering them finance.

NO MONEY FOR HICKS AND GILLETT

But let's make sure Royal Bank of Scotland, and anyone else who might be listening, get that message loud and clear. Let's hit them where it hurts – In the pocket. The way to do this is simple. Call this number between 3pm and 5pm today:

0845 300 4400

It is the contact centre for Tesco Motor Insurance – ran by RBS. RBS get paid according to the service level. So lets affect the service level. Call the number. Select Option 1, and Option 2.

If enough of us do this, lines will become clogged. So everyone needs to play their part.

After holding on the line for 1 minute – Put the phone down and do it all over again. For every call not answered within a minute, RBS get charged. Their clients will be asking questions. RBS will have to listen.

There are other numbers we can phone, and next time, we will phone one of them.

You can also express your concern over Royal Bank of Scotland's involvement with Hicks and Gillett to the Chief Executive of RBS, Sir Frederick Goodwin

Frederick A. Goodwin

Address: 42 St. Andrew Sq., Edinburgh, Britain EH2 2YE

Phone: 0131-556-8555

Letters sound a good idea, but the hoax calling is a bit lame.

Good luck to ya though.

Tell that to those that if...

SOS does something, they moan.

SOS doesn't do something, they moan.

SOS does something good, they moan.

If they haven't got anything constructive to say about what SOS are doing then don't say anything at all, they show a complete and utter lack of respect to those who are doing something for the Union and it's about time that instead of sitting from the sidelines they showed some support. I'm fed up of this attitude, 'I Support the aims, but not the people' 'bout time people lifted more than a finger off their mouse and actually did something. I wouldn't mind RP if it was just another one of those threads where SOS does something and it's ripped too shreds, instead it's now reached the level of pathetic.

So say you.

Do you really think that you telling everyone to f*** off is going to convince them to join SoS??

Whatever I posted before didn't work.

I'm angry and I apologise, but it's the same old story RP

Don't get angry, young fella. It'll do more harm than good, if you lose it and call everyone all the names under the sun.

I have to say that the hoax calling idea is (IMO) ridiculous. I have strong feelings about 'The Union' and where it is going wrong (or could improve) but, like many, I hold back from airing my views because I can't be bothered with the sh**-storm that I would be kicking up for myself. I don't have the time (nor am I in the right geographical loaction) to do anything to improve the SoS, so I have ended up sitting back quietly and watching it make mistake after mistake (IMO). Shame really.

RP, I agree with you that SoS have made mistakes. I also agree Ant is not helping himself or SoS in the way he posts. But I agree with him that SoS can't win with a number of folks here no matter what they do.

The fact is, no-one else is doing anything at all about the ownership situation excpet have a moan about it.

As a point of order, its not hoax calling, its entirely legitimate and a valid tactic to employ against our clubs money men, to bring to their attention our discontent.

Apart from anything else, I'm sure everyone will agree with me when I say it would be a great idea if everyone used the following phone number and phoned up to express their opinions on our owners and RBS partnership with them :

For Royal Bank of Scotland Customer Relations - 0800 015 5035

If people take nothing else from this thread, spare a minute of your time and 20p to phone the above number and tell them what you think of RBS partnership with G&H in their ownership of LFC. I'll be calling them on Monday and telling them of my intent to cancel my Churchill car and home insurance and to never have anything to do with any RBS partner ever again if they continue to finance G&H.

What you suggest is very different from what SoS very clearly suggest ...

I understand and agree with the sending of the letter, although I think it should be aimed at just more than their CEO.

I'm sorry but the hoax calling thing sounds a bit sad and why take this action against them before they have actually agreed to refinance is beyond me. I know from years of carrying out trade union work the common wisdom was to raise your concerns first and if need be let them know you would take action, if they, in this case refinanced G+H. Not show your hand before you have given them a chance to take note of your concerns. Seeing how late the notification of this action was I would think the effect on their business was minimal, it kind of makes it difficult to see how they are going to take any threats from SOS seriously in the future. If SOS wanted to show RBS we meant business then why not get something properly organised and an email notification sent out to try and get the maximum effect, rather than post something on forums a few minutes before you want it to happen on a saturday afternoon. I would think most posters didn't see it until after the end of the phoning in period.

Unfortunately this makes SOS seem very amatuerish and doesn't give me any confidence that they are capable of getting RBS etc to take them seriously. I hope I am wrong I really do.

Just about sums it up for me as well.

If the SOS was not around Hicks and Gillet and lesser so Parry and Moores would be getting no grief at all apart from phone-ins, forums and maybe the odd chant at the game.

The SOS has tried and is still trying to get all Liverpool fans to act as one and get rid of these Yanks. Yes they've made mistakes and will continue to do so, just as much as they will make some great decisions.

The idea to phone RBS is unique, I don't think any other football fans have done this kind of action before. Maybe it worked maybe it didn't, but the main thing is THEY f***ING TRIED TO DO SOMETHING, unlike some, sorry a lot on here who are more concerned with slaggin everything off they do.

Liverpool fans need a group like the SOS like never before, it's about time the dissenters got off their internet arses and starting supporting them. If you don't like what they are doing, them tell them something that you would like them to do, it's not that f***in hard.

Stop moaning when they do something, stop moaning when they dont' do something.

Maybe I and others have, just because I support what SOS want in terms of wanting the owners out doesn't mean I have to blindly follow them and if they have made what I believe to be a fundamental error I will say so, as a member I am within my rights to do so. I really hate the fact if you do so then people jump down your throat with the What are you doing argument.

Maybe some SOS supporters should stop trying to belittle people into mindlessly agreeing with everything SOS suggest. I would have tried to join in but due to the fact SOS decided this protest against RBS should go ahead with no real notice I missed it and probably most others did to. If you think that level of organisation is acceptable then great I personally don't and will say so.

Wasn't aimed at you, however you have made some valid points. They're trying, they're trying their damn hardest to do what is best for LFC, as I said before, they will make mistakes and some bad decisions.

I will agree with you about the timing, the idea was a good and unique one, however the timing could have been better. However, it keeps the fight against G&H in the public eye.

Top post. Agree with it all.

I think a lot of constructive criticisms of some actions, statements and decisions from the SoS, have been jumped on in a completely unnecessary and aggressive manner that gives the impression of some hotheads diving in without enough attention to detail. Just from reading the opinions and thoughts of many of those involved in the SoS core over the years on forums, that impression and the consistent slip ups are not something I would have expected.

It really isn't easy, for me at least and I'm sure for many many others, to critique the actions of people who have given up a hell of a lot more time and energy than I have been able or prepared to do so far, but that doesn't make the criticisms invalid. Frankly speaking, it isn't enough just to do something, anything, it really has to be the right thing. This is politics and it's f***ing difficult to do well, if fans are not completely taken with the union and have reservations then it's down to the union to change its approach to get them on board, it's down to the union to hit the right note everytime.

"Little things' such as degrading a new signing or allowing a perceived anti-OOT line to drift or even not proofing an otherwise excellent letter do matter, they matter a lot. If people are to stand behind a union and have that union speak for them, they have to trust in that union implicitly. That doesn't mean they have to agree with everything that comes out, but believe that everything that does will have been thoroughly thought through and executed flawlessly. There is a lot of great energy, huge passion, some brilliant ideas, but the focus and the final ball needs some work.

I totally agree with you Ant. The complacency on this site is at times embarassing.

What Paddy says is spot on, everyone, and I mean everyone, agrees with the aim of SoS, these 2 greedy b******s need to get out and quick.

However, imo the SoS have made mistakes and have alienated a huge % of liverpools fanbase as the RTK did before them, the potential for a Liverpool supporters union is fantastic and alot could be achieved, it just needs to be handled right.

I know the SoS are a young organisation and hopefully they will grow into the union I will follow, at the minute I wont as I don't feel they represent me. It doesn't help when you raise a concern or question you get shot down by people using big f***ing letters!!

and to the 'at least they are doing something about it brigade'. f*** off.

I sent E mails offering to help and set up a branch here in Northern Ireland and have never heard back from them. (granted that was before the statement on the Thomas Cook tickets) If they want to keep it in Liverpool and no where else, fine. I dont see how that unites fans, but there ya go.
