Fundraiser for the Reds shouts foul!

A LIVERPOOL FC agent with 20 years of service to the club today spoke of her disgust after her season ticket allocation was revoked without her knowledge.

Margaret Shelbourne, 61, of Lorenzo Drive, Norris Green, says she is one of 70 agents for the LFC Development Association who discovered two days before the season started that their season ticket allocation had been withdrawn.

Grandmother Mrs Shelbourne, who has loyally followed the team for over 50 years, said she was distraught when she found out that her three allocated season tickets had been put on general sale.

The agents, who raise funds for the club by selling pools and scratch cards, have always enjoyed the privilege of being allocated season tickets, which they still have to pay for.

Mrs Shelbourne, whose five-year-old grandson Finlay plays for Liverpool Academy, said: “We had no notice. I found out only two days before the season started because I kept pestering for my tickets.

“I then had to tell my grandson and my son-in-law that they wouldn’t be able to have their seats and we wouldn’t be sat together at matches.

“In any other business this would simply not be allowed.

“We keep Anfield going by selling the pools and scratch cards, and it is an absolute disgrace that they have treated us like this after years of loyal service to the development association.

“Everything that we have done for this club has been totally ignored.”

Mrs Shelbourne has been able to get one season ticket back but says she is still waiting for answers.

An LFC spokesman said: “From the information supplied by the development association, Margaret has only one season ticket to her name. That was in the name of the development association, but has now been transferred into her own name.

“A very small number of people from the Development Association have had their seats moved as part of a re-structuring process, for which we can only apologise for.”

so just to play Devils advocate here

there is nothing in that article that suggests they are going to Thomas Cook, it infact actually says they are going ion general sale

the fact that she was given 3 season tickets for selling scratchcards and the pools is a disgrace (IMO)

and she has got her own season ticket back.

and i think its a slight eggageration to say that her selling the pools coupons have kept Anfield going for years.

70 Agents get told they have no season ticket !

I bet they are going on general sale..........Generally on sale by Thomas Cook who in conjunction with the club are charging double the price.

Not sure why selling scratchcards earns you a season ticket.

Loyal service my a***, very cushy little number more like.

Sorry the lady is disapointed but I agree with the clubs decision.

Wasn't there a story earlier this pre-season that they were tightening up on the tickets given to the Development Association because some were finding their way into touts/'Event Management' hands?

totally agree with that

i'm sure there are people who'd happily do a lot more work than selling a few scratchcards if it meant getting the chance to buy 3 ST's.

I'm sorry but if she's that dedicated she'll ring up like the rest of us and and not have to go through such a cushy little practice to get tickets.

she had one ticket in her name according to the development agency, so either she was getting more than she was entitled to or was playing the system.

and as for Thomas Cook, Kev, i want to ask you something

is it better for a non Britain based fan to go through an unathorised agency to get a package to go and see Liverpool, with a travel company that completely takes the piss with prices and often leaves people with no tickets

or

to go through a club sanctioned Thomas Cook package, where they will at least be looked after and get a ticket and not be completely ripped off.

they can also get a fancard and make their own way

and another question

What is so different from what the club is offering with the thomas cook packages, that they offer locals through Lonsdales in regards to Euro aways?

Thomas Cook don't offer season ticket packages AFAIK. The story clearly states the season tickets were put on general sale, which I presume means they were offered to people on the waiting list.

i dont know why i bothered to pay my money all these years i should have sold f***ing scratch cards

aye, i bet there are plenty who would stand outside the ground shouting "golden Goal" in exchange for a few season tickets. dont know whay the club dont do away with i altogether and putthe whole golden goal and pools thing on line. they'd probably make more money, with a lot less hassle

thats totally irrelevant Wayne

the fact is there is no proof this is happening with these tickets

it sounds to me like the club is tightening up..

You'd sell 15 tickets a week and that guaranteed you 1 ticket for most games.

You had to pay face value of the ticket on top of your £15 scratch card money.

its relevent because for some reason this Thomas Cook issue seems to be pissing a lot of people off, and i cant for the life of me understand why, and by linking the Thomas cook scheme in with this story, it becomes relevant, because i want to know why people think its such a bad thing.

reckon the individual games were put in the general sale pot, more daytrippers, more fiverworld customers.

So you are certain she was getting more than she was entitled to, or was playing the system ? The more tickets you sell the more you get back off the club. Being an ex-agent for the club I know this. She may have been one of the best agents, selling the most tickets, and as a result got more than other agents selling a lot less. It's not all cut and dried.

Foreign fans should have the same chance as local fans without internet access, without a credit card, and without a considerate boss who wont let them queue up for hours. Just because they have come a long way should not give them extra clout for getting a ticket.

We all know that packages have been available ripping off the fans, instead of stopping this the club have looked at it and wanted a piece of that pie.

And as for the European travel, yes it's the same in principal - just ripping off the fans again.

Last season 14 new fans got a Season Ticket. The maths dont really add up.

It doesn't make that clear, but I guess that's what the point of the story is, yeah.

To be fair, those (presumably small numbers) fans are going to find it hard to do anything nowadays without one of the first two.

I'm suprised that many went to new fans actually.

one of 70 agents

three allocated season tickets

I'm f***ing delighted that potentially 140 season tickets are available for the people in the ST waiting list.

in terms of season tickets, if she had 3 and was only down as having one, then yes, something is quite clearly not right

true, but those tickets wouldnt be season tickets Kev. this is about the loss of season tickets

absolutely they should have the exact same access to tickets as locals. you wont find me disagreeing there. its infinitely easier to get tickets for the games if you live locally anyway.

We all know that packages have been available ripping off the fans, instead of stopping this the club have looked at it and wanted a piece of that pie.

the club have every right to make money of it. the same way they made money out of the Lonsdale euro away situation for years

I know, I was just over emphasing the point that local fans are bad and foreign fans mean money.

All I've ever wanted was to for general sale tickets to be on sale at the ticket office at the same time as the internet/phone lines.

why, so the touts can snap them up?

the one massive improvement over the last few years is the demise of ticket touts at Anfield.
