Am almost two-thirds of the way through this and I only started it a few days ago - can't put it down. A very well written and objective look at life as a Liverpool fan. His recounting of Hillsborough was especially moving.

Also have to take your hat off to how he got an FA Cup Final ticket when he was a youngster, and how he blagged an interview with Shanks

Caught most of an interview with him on LFCTV last week. Was pretty much an hour long special talking to him about the book. Was fascinating. Hadn't liked the look of the book up til then but will definitely have to buy it now.

Have met him a couple of times. Always seemed sound

Comes across as a fan first, journo second. And doesn't seem to have the ego most national journos have

I briefly met Brian Reade a couple of years ago. I was in a room of a venue, with a group of lads, watching us play West Ham away on the TV for an evening match. Brian was having dinner in the adjacent room, of this bar/restaurant, and he popped his head into the room where the match was on and asked what the score was.

Now, nice guy as he seemed, and comes across as in print, I didn't get the impression that he was that troubled to be missing the game. Maybe I'm being harsh, but for me, when Liverpool are playing they have my full attention. I will be there in most cases, and if not I'll be watching on TV somewhere. Unless it's a life and death situation, I would not be casually doing 'something else'.

Of course, Brian's commitment is his own business, but my experience of his casualness about our game that night, makes me think this 'life long red' stance of his may be laid on a bit thick to suit the needs of his public persona.

Give the guy a break. He probably had a family commitment, not everyone can be a superfan 24/7.

He is, to be fair to him, quite open in the book about his passion for the club not starting until he was 7.

I'm horrified by this talk of not watching that West Ham away game on the box.

I think I was actually at that match. Get me! Superfan!

The fact he wasn't born wearing a hat and scarf combo like our Mr H was something I really struggled to overcome

It's not uncommon for me to play 5 a side football on a Wednesday evening and therefore miss televised Liverpool games.

I struggle to look at myself in the mirror*

*Not just because I'm bloody ugly
