Brultus Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 I cant believe that Rafa always speaks so highly about Dirk Kuyt after every match. Ok he works real hard. But he doesnt need to work that hard if he doesnt lose the ball that much. Ive just watched the game again and counted Kuyts bad involvements. His passing was way of and only reached about 50% in succesful passes. And, 11 of those bad passes led to dangerous situations. My point is that he is an ok player that works hard, but he aint taking us a step further.
Knox_Harrington Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 Dirk Kuyt would go through a brick wall for you Brultus and this is the way you repay him.
Stevie H Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 dirk kuyt will later today call a press conference to thank rafa for his public support and to rebuff this thread by saying, 'et tu, brultus?'. dirk's PR team is brilliant.
John am Rhein Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 Hard work is worthy of praise. Players who work hard and don't get any recognition are likely to stop working as hard.

Falconhoof Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 We can't keep going into games with Benayoun and Kuyt in wide midfield. Kuyt did better later on when he was moved forward.

Guest JV Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 Kuyt made a case for getting the nod over Keane, TBHAye. Don't let Big Stuff hear you though.
Falconhoof Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 Kuyt made a case for getting the nod over Keane, TBH He did. Keane looks like he's very self conscious at the moment, agonizing over every touch and miss. Thats a recipe for dreading the ball and further errors. Choosing the team for Villa on Sunday throws up lots of difficult decisions.
Red Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 (edited) The goal should give Kuyt a lot of confidence, I wouldn't be surprised to see his play go up a notch in the next few games, he may even start accumulating a decent goal tally. I think he's capable of it, although I know there're others on here who may disagree. Edited August 28, 2008 by Red
Hassony Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 Kuyt made a case for getting the nod over Keane, TBH My thinking too, Kuyt is willing to do the donkey work for torres, Keane seems to think that he is an equal of torres (which he isn't really) If Rafa wants to continue with the 442 (Hopefully not) on sunday I would play Kuyt and Torres up front with El Zhar and Babel on the wings
Jarg Armani Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 i like dirk. never been much of a one for statistics meself but i'll tell you this: Dirk Kuyt scores big goals. Has in the past, will in the future, for your team.

Has in the past, will in the future, for your team.I agree with you, he does get a lot of unfair stick, it's almost become fasishonable on here to have a go at him after every match. Ok he didn't have his best game last night but he wasn't the worst player on show and he did score.
Stanley Leisure Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 (edited) Kuyt works incredibly hard - if the team plays well, so does he as he's fairly bright on the ball. When everyone else is having a mare as most are, at the moment, he is singled out for criticism. He doesn't have an individual brilliance to take a game by the scruff of the neck like Gerrard or Torres or Keane (hopefully) but he does so much leg work and, like last night, it pays off. He's a team player - sadly the team performances aren't so good at the moment - once we start playing better as a whole, his performances will improve. Edited August 28, 2008 by Stanley Leisure
Mike Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 kuyts second touch really is a tackle.he does better when played up front. rafa is a very stubborn man.all of these things are true.

fred milne Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 He has a lot of heart but not a lot of quality. If the rest of the side had more quality then that might not be so much of an issue.
Conor Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 Sometimes you get out of a game what you put in and the shift he put in last night he deserved to take the winning goal home.

Scaryscouse Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 I'm sorry but Kuyt's goal glossed over a truely awful performance. Yeah he works his socks off, and I can't fault his commitment for a second. I think he's useful up front but this playing him at right mid has to stop, he brings nothing to the table out there.
ManxRed Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 Kuyt didn't have one of his best games last night (up to scoring the goal), but there were plenty of players out there who were far worse than him. I simply don't understand why he gets singled out for criticism. This is a man who has the knack to stick a goal in in the really big games where it matters. The way we're playing right now we need hard workers. Has Brultus started a thread about Keane's first touch? Or Benayoun's possession? Thought not. Let's have a go at Kuyt again...
uncle bob Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 Kuyt made a case for getting the nod over Keane, TBH spot on - we were much more of a threat after we took Keane off

Conor Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 He seems to be carrying some of his team mates at the minute..
