alias75 Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Ok so maybe its a little difficult to be 100% positive at the moment, certainly we need to play better BUT 1. 2 wins from 2 in the league despite not playing well2. qualified in the CL despite playing poorly saving the club a decent sum of money3. We have some key players like Mascherano back hopefully that will make a difference to the performances.4. Now that we've qualified at least 1 player will be brought in that will improve the team5. Agger will be back, fit soon. The truth is performance wise things can only get better, we have a few key players we need to get into the team ASAP like Agger and Mascherano that will hopefully help with the level of performance, with CL qualification done we will bring in at least 1 attacking player.

Cooger Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 If we were doing a balance sheet of positive points and negative ones, we would see few positives. The only positives tonight were Reina, El Zhar and the clean sheet.
Archangel Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 In Babels favour its must have been very difficult to come on and make an impact in a game like that

Also Babel always plays to the level of the team. Today...need I same more?
allawee Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Surely the sign of a good team is when they play badly, they still win....and we have done that. Anyone on this forum would have taken 2 narrow PL wins and progress to the CL regardless of performanc or the manner it was achieved before a ball was kicked this season....and as much as it hurts to remember...but didn't the scum draw 2 and lost one at the begening of last season and they ended up with the CL and PL double!!!! Having said all of that....something is wrong with the balance of our team, which I hope that Mascharano will positively influence on Sunday.
mathewbet1 Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Main positive I cant see us playing this bad for too much longer. Which means we are due a good performance. The whole teams needs to up their levels, not just indivduals . Yes, Keane is struggling, but cant be easy when the whole team isunt clicking.
Paul_LFC Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 The only positive is that we are through. That's all.
Florist Cinema Pond Goal Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Things could be a lot lot worse.

Mike Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 were not shopping in harrods are we. we'll buy some more players not dissimilar to the standard we have now out wide.

It does my f***ing head in to be honest - £30M+ spent and will again spend the first 6 months trying to find a team/system that suits the players bought in.

I agree that it's mind boggling that we've changed from our most effective formation to this, but to be fair we can't play a 4-2-3-1 without one of Masch or Lucas in the side. If Plessis had improved on his showings at the end of last season then perhaps but he's looked lost out there when he's been in. We'll see the formation Rafa truly feels gives us the best chance to win against the Mancs, providing all players required for it (whatever IT may be) are fit.
