That's right, we're showing the second leg of our Champions League qualifier as it happens – so make sure you're signed up for an e-Season Ticket. Kick off is at 8.05pm BST but e-Season Ticket holders can get in the mood from 7pm by watching LFC TV's Countdown to Kick Off on their PC.
Ronnie Whelan Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 "We know we have to improve and hopefully that will happen soon because the squad is starting to settle down again after Mascherano, Babel and Lucas came back from the Olympics.” Neither Mascherano nor Lucas will be involved, though, having been omitted from Liverpool's squad list for the qualifying stages because of their involvement at the Olympics in Beijing. Here. Mostly about Riera signing, but the above about the Liege game. Originally posted by Carralegend on the Transfer thread.

Ronnie Whelan Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 A copy and paste from the copy and paste king? I now acknowledge GWistooshort as the rightful heir to that throne, this is merely just another nail in the coffin of the usurper.
Gary Wolf Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 is this on any TV channel?Scottish TV and Ulster TV, too
Tosh Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 A bit worried to be honest Nothing like full TV coverage for adding to the "gloat if we lose" factor
psl Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 (edited) A bit worried to be honest Nothing like full TV coverage for adding to the "gloat if we lose" factor I don't think you need to worry about that, whether its on TV or not. Edited August 27, 2008 by psl
Des Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 F*ck all this pessimism, we'll batter them. First good performance of the season.
honourablegeorge Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Wish Rafa wouldn't do this sort of thing. It's the Standard team talk done for them - "Benitez thinks you shouldn't be in the competition". Reminds me of when he used to run down Bolton before they beat us. Benítez seemed to have an issue with Platini’s belief in “the idea that football is for everyone”, pointing out that “you have the league for these things” and that the Champions League should be “for the best teams”. He seemed to sense, though, that this was not the time or place to expand on such undemocratic views, particularly with Liverpool’s fate in the competition a little precarious after a deeply unconvincing 0-0 draw with Standard in the first leg of their qualifying tie in Belgium a fortnight ago. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/foo...icle4615141.ece
Ronnie Whelan Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 (edited) Lets put things into context here. In any other two legged european tie we would be relatively happy with an away day score-less draw, knowing that we were coming back to Anfield for the second leg. This is even more important when we are talking about a side who are not among the elite of Europe and will not be fully ready for what Anfield has in store for them tonight. Also I wanted to put this down for your delectation: Odds from Betfair: Chelsea 6.6Man Utd 7.2Inter 8.8Barcelona 9.2Real Madrid 9.4Arsenal 14.0Liverpool 14.0 Edited August 27, 2008 by Ronnie Whelan

And are you really saying they need an opposition manager to do their teamtalk for them? Given most of them players are about to play in the biggest game of their lives? This "that's our teamtalk done" stuff is always laughable, like when Messi had a go at us and people were like "Oooo pin it up on the dressing room it'll motivate us". Errmmm we are playing in the Nou Camp against the current European Champions, we need more motivation?

Hassony Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 ps - Fabio Aurelio tonight please Rafa...tawhy?
Clay Davis Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 First game in a while this because of Uni. Hope its better than the last qualifier I went to! (Graz) *Shudder*
RedTillImDead Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 F*ck all this pessimism, we'll batter them. First good performance of the season. I think so too, after the emotional high from the weekends win over Boro I am hoping the boys can ride the crest of the wave and get the win for us tonight. 2-0 is my projection Goals to Torres and Keane Hope you all enjoy the game
Reggie Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Liege are 18/1 to win. I have flights and accom booked for the Stoke game and if we lose this that game will be moved. Might throw 50 on Liege to hedge my bets.

Falconhoof Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 we look terrible in the air at the back when Sami's not in the side,We were fine in the air against Boro. Carra won every ball. We need to play better than we did in the away leg, i'm confident we'll win well.
Gary Wolf Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 BTW does anyone know which channels can show the game in Irish pubs in Germany?
Gomez Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Never bet against your own team. I have no problem with people diong that. I personally never bet on Liverpool, as I am a jinx.
