It is just one from each category gets an award in this one. The team one is for the calendar year and voted by uefa.com users. Nominees in December.

I cant see a clear winner in the GK and Midfielder sections

I reckon Ferdinand and Ronaldo will win the other two

From today's Fiver:

The shortlist for this year's prestigious - no, actually, we mean preposterous - Uefa European Club Footballer of the Year awards is in, and it's dominated by Premier League players. Seventeen of the 25 names are from the FA Greatest League In The World Apparently, including the usual suspects Cristiano Ronaldo, Fernando Torres and Didier Drogba. And here, you'll like this, Frank Lampard's on the list as well. Ha ha ha. A ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ah what is the point of this? What does it prove?

They really hate Frank Lampard in the Fiver. It's enough to warm you heart.

Listening to the Football Weekly podcast, it's seems to be a Guardian-wide issue :D

They had some cracking headlines and captions for the links to Frank's new contract last week.

How on Earth did Carra get in? Theey put no thought at all into these lists.

Funny how Carra got in when the consensus opinion of our support (myself included) is that he had a drop in form last year.

Do you think thats down to us expecting that much more from him than others saw last year? Or that UEFA are just daft c*nts throwing in some big names to make the award seem more prestigious?

This type of thing depends more on reputation that reality. Carra deserved recognition years ago so I'm glad he's got it, but he was relatively poor (for him) in the first six months of the season.

in support of Carra, the RB position & other CB was shifted around all the time because of necessity, so the players either side of him, there was no consistency.

Whether this is an excuse or a valid reason, I dunno
