Ronnie Whelan Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 (edited) When I was younger we used to play what we called 'Portugese Football' where you were allowed blatantly foul the opposition but not seriously for obvious reasons. The usual sliding challenges, pulling, pushing etc. The thing is I have absolutely no idea we called it Portugese football but thats what it was. I think everyone had the same game but with a different name. Edited August 21, 2008 by Ronnie Whelan
Rory Fitzgerald Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 Its more specific now and called Ricardo Carvalho football these days
cymrococh Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 (edited) In junior school we used to play a game we christened Aussie Rules Netball on the days when the Netball nets were left up in the yard. Anything went foul wise and you could score a goal as well as get a net, the only rule was the netball one where if you caught it you weren't allowed to move. It was also a unisex sport so games would invariably end when someone made a girl cry. Edited August 22, 2008 by Paul Caruso
Ronnie Whelan Posted August 22, 2008 Author Posted August 22, 2008 Portuguese. Did you know where the name came from? I had always assumed some genius had seen a game from the portugese league where a couple were sent off and thought this is the way it always is, of course, no one gets sent off in the real portugese football.
Ronnie Whelan Posted August 22, 2008 Author Posted August 22, 2008 Portugese national team in training.. Is that Ronaldo & Quaresma in the back ground?
