lfc003 Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Crouch not in??????? So Crouch sits on our bench all last season and gets picked but the moment he leaves for first team football he's dropped lol and still no Ashley Young??
JonShar Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 HOWINGOD'SNAMEIS FATTY ROBINSONSTILLINTHESQUAD?!?! My uncle has better reflexes than he does and he's been dead for 8 years.
Tones Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Baffling how Emile gets in ahread of Big Crouchie given his England record the past 2 years.
Hodgson for Chelsea Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 Ashton is gonna be England's first choice very soon I reckon.
anfield11 Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 Fair play Emile. And the sickening reality of what Capello has taken on suddenly comes to him.
Swipe Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 Crouch leaves a big club and immeidately loses his place in the squad. Weird how often that has happened for England in recent years. Happened to Heskey himself.
Kvarme Ate My Food Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 Ashton is gonna be England's first choice very soon I reckon. yeah, I agree. he's a very good performer, and has all the attributes needed to lead the line for England. he'll never be world class, but he'll be England's best option for a while (especially if they play with one up-front, which they should: with Rooney, J Cole and Gerrard in support)
Leo No.8 Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 Ashton is gonna be England's first choice very soon I reckon. Agreed - he's immensely strong and can be that player England like to have who can put it about and lead the line, but also chip in with a decent number of goals and has excellent technique and control. Ashton is a lot more physical in that role than Crouch; he outmuscled Sami Hyypia in the cup final a few years back and I've not seen many players get the better of Sami for strength. Ashton and Niall Quinn are the only ones I can think of.

fred milne Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 I can remember Viduka and Smith giving Hyypia and Babbel a torrid time in the 4-3 game.
Cobs Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 So apart from Ashton, Quinn, Viduka, Smith, Drogba and Ferguson has anyone ever seen a player get the better of Hyypia for strength ?
johngibo YPC Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Kevin Davies broke his nose, does that count?
Rory Fitzgerald Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Maybe Capello remembers Heskey from his time in charge at Roma when Heskey scored the 2nd at Anfield ?
Gilps Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Czechs are winning 1-0 thanks to MIlan Baros first goal for anyone in about a year. Brian Barwick is apparently leaving the FA. Not sure whether the two things are directly connected.
