  • Pepe's sublime performance
  • Dossena and Keane's getting their liverpool and CL debut out of the way and hopefully they will be less nervous next game (Dossena was solid enough in the second half once the nerves settled)
  • Voronin didn't come on and be cup tied which suggest that a deal to sell him might still be on the cards
  • Another game for Agger to get his full fitness and match sharpness out of the way

there were a couple of positives, although the negatives way outweight them

Reina obviously, i thought Carra played ok, and Agger got a competitive 90 underneath him

I thought Dossena played ok second half

we didnt concede (not sure how tho)

I think people can over react but we were out of sorts, at least we have it out of the way and have Sat to look forward too

Positives from last night?

And the prize for the shortest thread ever goes to...................

Getting a bit desperate when Voronin not coming on is a big plus

We didn't lose, we didn't concede, 13 players got a competetive workout, you don't want your best performance in August!

We'll win at anfield and win easily - players will be a lot more up to speed by then and we'll also have some of teh boys back from the Olympics probably.

Playerwise, Pepe obviously, Dossena looked better as the game went on, Plessis did ok for me and it was good to see Agger carrying the ball out from the back even if things didn't always work out after that.

We will be fine!!

Voronin might have come on and scored a goal, as he has done recently.

Begs the question "why did Rafa not bring him on?" Answer is in the transfer thread....

I'd rather put in a **** performance in a two leg cup game, than lose 2 (or 3) points against a team like Sunderland in the league.

As Rafa basically said, the players know they where ****.

I am expecting a much better performance at the weekend.

Positives for me:

Reina, solid as usual

Agger, great to see him bringing the ball right into midfield - we have missed that.

....the game was only 90mins long

The positive is that we can surely not play as badly again.

Oh, and Dossena DOES remind me of Alan Kennedy still.

We could also do with Keane startying to play like a PL footballer and not someone who looks scared shi"less every time he gets the ball.

Keane was awful - I got slated on here three weeks ago for calling him a poor man's Craig Bellamy - but I still think it's the case.

I think this club is too big for him.
