Redkop Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 Which player do you think will be the 'whipping boy' this season for the fans to give stick to?
cymrococh Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 Voronin seems to have slotted in perfectly, especially with the pre-season goals raising expectations amongst the more knee-jerky.
fred Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 Voronin seems to have slotted in perfectly, especially with the pre-season goals raising expectations amongst the more knee-jerky. Not going to work - he won't get enough games to be a regular whipping boy. I'd nominate Degen or Arbeloa, Dossena is also in with a shout especially since he'll be keeping Insua aka the new Roberto Carlos out of the team if he does play.
John am Rhein Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 Can we make this into another 'Riise is sh*t' thread?
Mike Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 now that we've lost riise what are we gonna dooo for kicks benayoun deffo.
Gomez Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 If he hasn't scored at least three times from his own half by January, I'd go for Barry.
Rimbeux Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 I think Barry will have a lot to prove to a lot of fans considering what he's costing in cash and personnel, he'll have to be brilliant. I think Babel also needs a big season to justify to outlay on him and Lucas will also have to show a lot more.
Spion kop Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 now that we've lost riise what are we gonna dooo for kicksbenayoun deffo.you're behind the curve, i was bashing benayoun for most of last season.
Leo No.8 Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 Ngog has scapegoat written all over him as he is French and is only costing £1.5m.
Mike Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 you're behind the curve, i was bashing benayoun for most of last season. me too
Rich Gobey Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 Some people have been bashing their benny's on here for years.
Chili Palmer Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 If not all is going well, Rafa will get the most stick.
Hassony Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 If not all is going well, Rafa will get the most stick.Don't forget H&G and Parry
Ronnie Whelan Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 Assuming the deal goes through I can see Robbie Keane getting stick from certain quarters.
Frosty Jack Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 Can I just re-iterate that never have I been so excited about a player being sold as I am Riise? I still can't believe it's true. Truly equivalent to a new signing.

Earl Hafler Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 Can I just re-iterate that never have I been so excited about a player being sold as I am Riise? I still can't believe it's true. Truly equivalent to a new signing. Just imagine - the left back receives the ball and...passes it 10 yards to Masch with his right foot !!!

Truly equivalent to a new signing. I've just read Now that Riise's gone (and the thread immediately below it) What's the Minimum you'd expect from the season... Uncanny
RedHarvest Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 Riise was a Liverpool scapegoat legend - spectacular OG in CL semi, chronically one footed, crap defending, pointless shoot on sight policy AND a ginge!! - we'll never see his like again. .............

kop205 Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 Maybe the next 'whipping boy' should be whichever player puts in at least two years worth of poor performances, cultivates a genreally unpleasant public persona, and singularly fails to improve any aspect of his game for a sustained period, culminating in probably the costliest own goal in the club's history to date. And for what it is worth, a true 'whipping boy' would get sustained s**** from a large section of his own fans whilst on the pitch. As this didn't happen to Riise (and nor should it have done - support them while they they are out there, vent your frustrations later), then the cap doesn't really fit.
