Although there have been and are many instances of things that are pulled up in the UK for being a bit rubbish (or just plain awful) is it time to look at some of the more positive aspects of life and things in the UK in general?

For instance - take hospitals - 20 years ago - they were antiseptic smelling places that looked like they'd been built as part of Russia bunkers in the cold war - now when you visit the hospital - there is a nice environment that just feels better.

The state of the Cities - although some would say they aren't as safe as they were - I think I'd have to disagree - generally most areas feel safer (Especially around the centres of towns) - everything has been cleaned up and money has been spent across the country. Again if you think back to the 70s when they were going through their phase of monstrosities springing up everywhere - everything was getting pretty ugly pretty quickly.

Nowadays more money seems to be spent on Parks and other areas of Natural Beauty and despite a few unscrupulous deals - the Green Belt has largely remained just that.

People seem to be more cosmopolitan nowadays compared to years ago - there seems to be less animosity between cities there certainly is the banter but outright hatred (That you sometimes used to see years ago) of those from outside your community has certainly lessened.

Kids also I think are generally better again in the 80s and 90s especially I actually think they were worse than today although you have crime going on and sadly kids getting killed this isn’t all of them and it’s too easy to tar everyone with the same brush and class ‘all kids’ as evil and nasty and whatever and the simple matter is that they aren’t.

Some are, certainly, but given the good moves that have been undertaken to reduce Xenophobia and passive racism and other areas where people are discriminated against we might end up with young adults that are more open to other cultures and others views than we’ve ever had in the past.

For the tabloids it’s always easy to concentrate on the bad and what’s going wrong they rarely show all the good stories and the good kids and the good areas of life generally those that read tabloid newspapers (And even broadsheets now at times) aren’t interested in truth or beauty just what’s gone and is going wrong.

If the papers put the right proportion of good stories everyday in there - then the bad stories would probably end up taking a tiny column on the 24th page.

This is a shame.

What other things can you think of personally where things are actually going pretty well in the UK?
