Granted that, although its not ideal, we can bring Gerrard back into midfield and pair him with Alonso/Barry but if something were to happen to either of them then at the moment we'd be looking at someone like Plessis and the jury is still very much out on him for me.

Totally agree.

 

It's trumpeted as the showpiece for the best, fastest sportspeople in the world. b******s it is. While it might be different in the USA, here in Europe any kid who shows a decent level of talent for sport or who can run a bit faster than the other kids will get directed off towards a real sport, where there's real money to be made. Most of those who end up doing Athletics are either loners or 2nd raters.

 

And that's without having a rant about the drugs in Athletics.

I agree, I hate it when someone says that the jury is still out regarding a young player from the reserve! the jury was out on Owen, Gerrard, Fowler and McManaman too before they got a run in the side, plassis, Insua, Brouwer (hehe)and Spearing (Nemeth too if he hasn't gone on loan) should all start featuring more this season if they are to make it

I thought that people went well overboard about his performance at the Emirates.

 

The first half was one of the most anaemic performances from an Arsenal side I can recall in recent years - Plessis was given an unusually generous amount of time & space on the ball.
