Signed on for another three years apparently. Surely that means that stuff about him being thrown together with other players as part of a deal was a false rumour?

Great stuff. Definitely a false rumour after reading Ablett's glowing report on him last season and how he was working with Insua to get better on his defensive game as Rafa wanted this in readiness for the first team.

Excellent news. Clearly Insua hasn't featured in any mish mash and the story was complete crap.

Although Aurelio is quality on his day I'm just not comfortable relying on a player who seemingly gets seriously injured in one of many different ways at some stage of every single season.

For this reason I think Insua should be back up to Dossena and I would let Aurelio go if we can get a decent offer. I like him as a player but its pointless to have a player with decent quality who is only available half the time.

I actually think Aurelio's injury record is so bad we'd struggle to get a couple of million for him. Not his fault of course, I feel really sorry for the bloke who seems like a good pro and it must be extremely frustrating but it is what it is.

I think we have to think of the future with the left back situation and have Insua in the rotation for when Dossena is injujred or rested, particularly as we have Arbeloa who can also cover on that side quite comfortably.

Otherwise Insua isn't going to get the chance to live up to his potential having looked pretty comfortable at first team level.

Great news this. Rafa will wait and introduce this guy when he is ready and give a run of games to exceed and he will.

I cannot wait to see what Rafa brings through over the next few years.

No one beceause Rafa is useless with the reserve team, which in itself is pointless, and never gives young players a chance

You love him don't you?

I wouldn't be selling Aurelio so lightly Leo.

He's a very talented player, and a very good left back when he stays injury free. I think he's an excellent back up, and will play his fair share of games next year. Maybe having another competent player in his position (I'm not counting Riise), will ensure that he stays injury free - because we'll be able to protect him a lot more. Then we can pick and choose Insua's games next season and give him more exposure to the first team set up.

He's like the special kid in school. He may irritate and annoy, but it's not his fault and it would be duller without him

That and he's a damn good outlet for any lingering anger issues

I went to school with a guy who collected used condoms and kept them in a packet of fags his gran was smoking just before she keeled over and died. If we are talking on a scale of 1 to Kaizer I'd rate him at a 5.

To start with, anybody that gave any credence to any Alan Oliver story wants shooting.

Guy I used to live near in Harwich developed a crush on his sunday school teacher. She wasn't welcoming to the attention, so he tried to make his point with a lump hammer. Pretty sure he's never getting let out. 7.5 on the same scale, I reckon

But that's the whole point - he's never injury free, ever. I'm advocating selling him purely on the basis of his injuries.

As far as talent goes Aurelio is the best left back at the club, and would be one of the better left backs in the Premier League were it not for his legs being made of feta cheese, but they are.

I don't see the point in keeping him when we've got a really talented kid there who could be getting games. Aurelio hasn't gone a single season in his career in recent years without a 3-6 month injury.

I know he's good but this isn't a one off lengthy injury, it's systematic serious injuries every season without fail.

Fairly sure we'd have reached the Champions League final had Aurelio not got injured in the first leg.

We might still have had Skrtel not got injured in the second leg.

Ho hum.

First leg.

We had to send on Riise instead.

We know how that story ends. :cold:

We won, as I recall. Followed by a resounding 4-1 thrashing of them at Stamford Bridge and a tense 2-1 win in Moscow.

That's what I remember, anyway, and my doctor says its best to leave it that way
