floyd the barber Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 unlike a few pundits... i feel hes had a better tournament than his goals suggest.....certainly villas hat-trick was with great help from fernando... One goal to his name...and he could`ve had a few more in the semi final had it not been for some bad luck and good goalkeeping.. tomorrow though with David Villa out it means its time for Fernando to take center stage, i reckon he`ll do that and it wouldnt suprise me if he got the winning goal...(it also wouldnt suprise me if he was taken off after 60mins ) Anyway good luck Fernando the mighty reds are right behind you.. also lets not forget Reina, alonso and Arbeloa...im sure if they play their part they wont let anybody down! Go Spain...........................c`monnnnnnnnn
Gerrardrules Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 All the reds are going to bounce for Fernando again tonight!!
Ste M Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 Thought he played well the other night without much recognition. Villa was garbage before he went off, so Torres was essentially playing on his own for 90 minutes. Can't wait to see him up against a cumbersome pair like Mertesacker and Metzelder. Spain are going to roast this lot tonight.

Swagger Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 Thought he played well the other night without much recognition. Agreed. I think he'll score tonight.
Guest Kirb Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 Ya I think the same before every Spain game. He gets a little impatient with Spain's patient build up compared to our more direct play. Hope he does well and is the hero. The coach is not good for his confidence though.
Anfield Fox Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 If Spain win i doubt he'll care about how many goals he ended the tournament with.
Maldini Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 40-1? What idiot bookie gave you those odds? I got 10-1
Sion Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 Paddypower currently offering 50/1.Which is basically 50/1 on him to score a hat-trick or more and Podolski not to score more than 1Slightly better odds than the 40/1 you can get on him just to score a hat-trick
Rimbeux Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 Better player on his own up top than with another striker up there
5InIstanbul Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 F8ckin class. Best in the world at the moment and that confirms it. And he's ours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
CaptainXabi Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 He's absolutely the best thing since sliced bread.
CaptainXabi Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 Spain figured out that Fernando likes the ball facing goal just in time to reap the rewards.
Swipe Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 (edited) Villa is excellent, but Torres is better and has had a better all-round tournament if you ask me. He's one of those rare players that is a threat for every single second he's on the pitch. Odd tactics by Aragones to sub him every game though. Probably robbed him of a few extra goals Edited June 29, 2008 by Swipe
liverbird04 Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 (edited) Odd tactis or just spite?, subbing Torres later in a game when he could be most effective was more than weird. Senile old b*****d, glad for spain just pissed off it was aragones as manager. Edited June 29, 2008 by liverbird04
Benitez Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 (edited) well pleased for him. He's a better player for Spain without Villa. Even though it was frustrating that he got subbed in them games (the ones he played well in!), can't argue with Aragones, he got it spot on throughout the torurnament, fair play. And LOL at the above comment posted the exact same time The senile old b*****d did little wrong in this tournament. I'm sure Spain is very glad of him as their coach, first major championship in how long again..... Edited June 29, 2008 by Benitez
floyd the barber Posted June 29, 2008 Author Posted June 29, 2008 fantastic winning goal...typical torres!!!! loved them all singing you`ll never walk alone too!!!
Silencio Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 Best striker in the world and he's ours - Congratulations Fernando!
fyds Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 Spain figured out that Fernando likes the ball facing goal just in time to reap the rewards.Took them a while, didn't it?
fyds Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 Fernando was so happy, he couldn't resist doing his 'Little Nicky' impression as he lifted the cup.
Conor Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 The whole tournament came down to one piece of individual brilliance. He was the only player in the whole competition who could have scored that goal. I am made up for him. I honestly believe he is the best player in the world.
