Guest Ant Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 I will believe the stadium is ready/built when I first step inside the f***ing thing. Until then even if their is steel in the ground I won't believe it's getting built. The finances for the full construction aren't even in place ffs!
mm2259 Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 Can we afford the fecking thing? At the moment we can afford to build a big hole. We've got £60 million minus architects fees etc tucked away for that.
matlfc Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 Can we afford the fecking thing? A few portaloos easy.
Guest SpiritualWarrier Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 At the moment we can afford to build a big hole. We've got £60 million minus architects fees etc tucked away for that. Yeah I heard something about there being enough to fund the start.... What about the middle and end bit?
mm2259 Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 Yeah I heard something about there being enough to fund the start.... What about the middle and end bit? Don't be getting ahead of yourself, we haven't actually startred building the hole yet. We are just enabling the building of the hole, a load of little holes, a couple of portakabins and a bit of fencing probably. Sounds good in the press though.....
Billy Dane Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 I don't think they need to find all the money for the new stadium up front. If they sell the naming rights for the new stadium on a 10-15 year deal that will provide a sizeable chunk of the money needed. Finding sponsors for various parts of the new ground (the most obvious example being the new Kop) will also help generate the money needed. You've got something like 4 main sponsors for the Champions League, it should be "fairly easy" to use a similar model to sponsor the Liverpool "brand", which will reduce the amount of money G&H need to raise to pay for the ground. If they need £350m to pay for the ground, if they can show the banks they can get say half of that from sponsorship/partnership deals they should get the rest from the money markets. Then you factor in the extra revenue generated by the new ground.....
Guest SpiritualWarrier Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 Okay then. Where is the sponsorship deal AND the rest of their finances? This is going to be chaotic.

fyds Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 Enabling work is the equivalent of calling something a building site and doing basic preparations. Nothing more.

R A Softlad Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 I will believe the stadium is ready/built when I first step inside the f***ing thing. I won't believe it until the stadium is holding up a scarf and is photographed with Rafa!
fyds Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 Or maybe the work going on has sod all to do with the new ground and the club are expanding the truth ?That would be shocking - shocking I tell you....
Brutus the barber Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 Enabling work is the equivalent of calling something a building site and doing basic preparations. Nothing more. Enabling work means the foundations for the stadium are prepared for the structure to be put onto. Basically, dig a big whole and fill it with sh*t loads of cement!!!
