psl Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 (edited) Riise deserves better than having his farewell thread entitled 'f***ing stupid ginger c***' or whatever its called. He's been playing for us for 6 seasons and has provided some wonderful memories, including great goals against Chelsea, Everton, Man Utd, Arsenal and Barcelona. He's played in a large number of finals, won a good few trophies, scored important goals and was part of the Istanbul team. Good luck in Rome JAR. Hopefully you can meet up with your old team mates when they're in town for the Champions League final next year. Edited June 18, 2008 by psl
Falconhoof Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 I'm glad he's finally going. Long overdue transfer.
Kvarme Ate My Food Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 good luck JAR. there's something about your personality that I have always strongly disliked. even though i don't know you. sorry for that. other can talk about your shortcomings as a player, if they must. but thanks for all you did.
Zoob Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 (edited) Part of a very solid defensive unit, scored some great goals and some important goals. Never said a bad word against the club when he wasn't playing, and on more than one occasion said he'd be happy to spend the rest of his career here. Stagnated in the last couple of years and ended with a nightmare, but as one of our longest serving players and for 5 years of consistant performances, I thank him for his time and wish him well for the future... Edit: There are clearly better left backs around, but given Harkness, Warnock, Matteo, Bjornebye Dicks and other useless players we tried at LB, I think some are being way too harsh on his time here. fabfive Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Best wishes for a player who had a few rockets in his day. Helped us win a number of matches.
McBain Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Farewell JAR Good luck and dont score againt us you c***
Kahnee Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 More than played his part in our recent triumphs. Will always remember the goals against Everton and the Mancs
Billy Dane Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Good luck JAR. I'll remember the goals against the Mancs and Chelsea and for putting in the cross that started the comeback in Istanbul. He's part of the legend.
Reggie Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Best of luck JAR. 37 goals. Hell of a lot more than Kewell got.
anfield11 Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 I wish him well, as I would any ex Red, but glad he's moved on too.
redjersey Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Good luck to the lad in Rome. A shame he'll be remembered here for his last 2 seasons rather than the previous 5.
Kvarme Ate My Food Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Good luck to the lad in Rome. A shame he'll be remembered here for his last 2 seasons rather than the previous 5. lucky for him that the first 5 are remembered as being much better than they were, because of some excellent goals
jfogarty Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Delighted for him, he'll do very well in Serie A as that is s*** too.
Cobs Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 bye John i'll remember you for your great goals - not the one you scored for Chelsea - and for being a sound player for us for many a season dunno what's happened with you over the past 18 months odd - but best of luck anyway
baz2107 Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 thanks for all the good moments Johnny all the great and important goals you scored, but also your contribution to a solid back 4, you're ability ha (rightly) come into question at times, but nobody could knock your comitment, you've just been unfortunate that the team is evolved and you don't have the technical ability for it. Thanks for the great goals, and you're role in winning the champions league, FA Cup, Carling Cup,2 super cups and 2 community shields. people have contributed a lot less to this club, and got a lot less stick too
rjlfc Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Some people on here are a f****g disgrace with goldfish memories. He had his limitations, which showed in his last 18 months of his time here, but were a talking a long serving player who played his fair share in our rise to relative success after GH arrived. and a player who always gave his all. If you can't post anything positive in this this, which was clearly started as a positive farewell to the lad, then don't bother, I'm sure you've already said your piece in the other Ginger related thread. It was time for him to move on, but thanks for the service.
Cobs Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 he's done far more for us than Smicer, who got a knob-stroking send off from many on here, ever did.......
Earl Hafler Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 he's done far more for us than Smicer, who got a knob-stroking send off from many on here, ever did....... Smicer scored ( twice ) Riise missed I was not a fan of Vlad's but his goal and that celebration - f***ing brilliant. The best thing Baros ever did - he got out of the way.
MFletcher Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Smicer's last significant act was to score in the CL final and then knock away a crucial penalty at a crucial time. Time may ease my bitterness towards Riise for that OG, but it's going to be a long while before the name "Riise" doesn't elicit memories of just how gutted I was when I realised the ball hadn't went over the bar. So good f***ing riddance as far as I'm concerned.
Guest Prongsy Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 A superb player for us over his Liverpool career. Loved the club, the fans and winning things.
