Year in year out....

But, who here would still have him?

I reckon he's more of a natural finisher than Torres, and wouldn't cost too much either.

I think Torres is the more natural finisher. Some of his vollied goals and long shots illustrate that he just has so much natural ability. I always felt that Owen's pace brought him such an advantage when he was young that he was often left one on one with the keeper. Torres has the pace but has more natural instinct in tight situations.

Only if he came for less than he left for and took a pay cut.

I signed him in Football Manager. He wanted £80,000. I offered £57,000 and he was ecstatic to sign. I'm now one of his fav people.

Owen is not a natural finisher, and never was. He had natural pace, and still finds space in the box naturally (his real strength), but never was he a natural finisher.

As stated above, his pace found him one on one on many ocassions - he would always score a high percentage of those.

Torres is a better finisher than Owen, but still not as natural as Rush or Fowler, to name two of our own.

as a player? nope

on the coaching staff? yes

to keep the physio staff occupied in the absence of Kewell? absolutely.

Did you ever see his training programme? I think it was shown on Sky One. He was demonstrating how to take a great penalty which I found amusing.

I would take Saviola instead of Owen, I think he could have worked well together with Torres, playing between the lines moving Gerrard out right.

no chance, he can f***ing rot. hes horrible little mercenary and it looks like hes about to do the same to the barcodes as he did to us.

Strangely, Owen has now developed into move of a link forward who drops deep and is more of a team player. I think a combination with Torres would work well.

Saviola is very overrated.

Owen is 10x the player he is and would work well behind Torres and infront of SG.

Don't think Owen has the creativity or drive to play behind Torres.

Now your just coming across as arrogant :hmm:

Still don't think Saviola could cut it in England for various reasons.

Don't understand the need for hyperbole.

Oh Dear.

Owen manages succesive games without injury and someone breaks out the 'Sign Owen' thread.

I'd take him for 5M if he accepted a role as second fiddle to Torres, he wouldn't though. He has nothing to offer in any other position despite what Keegan says, so he would be no use to us.

I would actually say Saviola is like Owen with added technique.

only not as strong, less goalscoring instinct and weaker mentality.

Still, he's pretty good.
