He's class through and through. Positive, comftable on the ball, stanima, pace, what more does a fullback need?

 

He's never looked out of place playing with players like Aguero and Zarate in the Argie youth teams, so he won't look out of place playing with Pennant and Riise

He's already ten times the player Riise is, but that's not saying much. He's a good tidy player at the moment but will get a lot better. Wouldn't want him playing in a meaningful game at the moment as I think he's a bit lightweight, but I think he'll soon be a consistant squad member.

One thing Riise does have is 'BULK'

 

Clichy, Evra et Cole don't seem to struggle despite being weedy things.

Clichy and Cole struggled against Kuyt in recent games. THat said fullbacks don't often come up against big physical wide players

The one thing that struck me when I saw him vs Newcastle reserves was the size of him compared to the rest of the team !

Absolute garbage that is. Riise may have made a massive error the other night and generally been off form for a while but to state that an untried reserve team fullback is ten times the player an established first teamer who has won plenty, played in and done well in some massive games is, is ludicrous. I have seen Insua have some, at best, average games in reserve team football and he has proven absolutely nothing yet. He may well, and I hope he does, go on to be a good player for us but he has achieved nothing so far.

Just goes to show how limited and exposed we are on the LHS now, but take nothing away from the lad. He's been excellent.

He may not be 'ten times better' but IMO he's a better player.

If Insua is such a massive, massive talent, why is it a year since his last appearance?

Because Rafa thinks Riise is a better player, at least until recently.

He's fantastic going forward, but still slightly naive defensively, bombs on a bit too much. I still think he should have played more this season though.

Exactly. Rafa is not a fool. If he felt Insua was good enough, he'd play him, regardless of age.

Think thats right. I still think he should have played though, its odd that 1st team development could get held back for the best part of a year to give Aurelio an hour.

Insua looked good when he came on at the weekend but in fairness it was only really in an attacking capacity, we didnt see what he can do defensively.

We could always try him on the Wing. But I think Silvas imminent arrival may stop that. Babel on the right?

 

Mind you Silva can play on both flanks and is likely to swap during the game IMO.
