MFletcher Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 Bloody good again today. Kept running at the full back, made some excellent runs, kept getting excellent balls into the box. He was working his a*** off as well. It may have been a 'meaningless' game, but you wouldn't have thought it looking at the way he was trying to do something to lift us after we went 2-0 down. I've never been his biggest fan, but he's doing really well at the minute.
Hassony Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 hopefully it will mean someone like newcastle/ west ham paying £6m+ for him
Walrus Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 Never had major problems with him. Well in, Jermaine!
The Invisible Man Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 He has shown he has talent but needs to do it more often. I think I would get rid of Benayoun ahead of Pennant.
McBain Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 He has shown he has talent but needs to do it more often. I think I would get rid of Benayoun ahead of Pennant. I'd be happy to keep Benayoun if i thought he would be employed differently as he's absolutely not a wide man. As it stands though with Rafa only playing him there i'd not be fussed if he was shipped on
Mike S Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 he was excellent, man of the match by a distance. You'd think that he's in contention for wednesday now, at least ahead of yossi in the pecking order.
Swipe Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 Thought he was terrific today. Great wingers performance.

lawrie Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 He has had more good games than bad for us since he's been here but people's opinions are prejudiced by his lack of goals (his assists though are actually pretty good) I hope we don't sell him.
meepins Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 hopefully it will mean someone like newcastle/ west ham paying £6m+ for himAgreed, great shop window performance.
RedLars Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 (edited) He has shown he has talent but needs to do it more often. I think I would get rid of Benayoun ahead of Pennant. Agree. Thought Pennant was really good today. Both Benayoun and Pennant are unfortunately atm too inconsistent and 'lightwight' imho. Edited April 26, 2008 by RedLars
allawee Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 I think he has the measure of Ashley Cole as well. I would play him even if just as a sub on Wed CL game.
Hassony Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 I would start him in the CL. Ahead of Kuyt no doubt
allawee Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 Ahead of Kuyt no doubt For me he comes on a sub with Crouch for Babel and Kuyt in the second half. But if pushed, Kuyt is the only replacement really if we start with Penannt...although really unfair on Kuyt considering his performance on Tuesday
Hassony Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 There is no way Kuyt won't start against chelsea, If Pennant has really worked him self into a starting place than Kuyt might be moved to the left, which might not be a bad thing with Babel coming on in the second half.
Magic8Ball Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 if only: 1 Pennant could do that all the time 2 Add 10+ goals per season
lawrie Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 if only: 1 Pennant could do that all the time 2 Add 10+ goals per season no player does great every game

But if pushed, Kuyt is the only replacement really if we start with Penannt...although really unfair on Kuyt considering his performance on Tuesday Kuyt? No chance. Starters, Kuyt runs around like a mad dog ALL game...until the final whistle. Secondly, if it's 1-1, Kuyt's taking a penalty.

But if pushed, Kuyt is the only replacement really if we start with Penannt...although really unfair on Kuyt considering his performance on Tuesday about the size of it, but maybe with a midfielder going off instead
Old red eyes Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 Played well today but i need to see more performances like that. Let's not forget he has been dreadful at times. But credit where it's due.
Big E Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 Pennant for Babel if he's tiring, Kuyt on the left. Crouch for Alonso or Masch if we're chasing. That's what happened with Inter isn't it?
Guest Banjo Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 He only plays well against s*** teams and s*** fullbacks.... Decent player for games like this though when we're resting others.
