richwilks Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 "With Liverpool looking for two top class full backs to add to the squad and push on for the elusive title challenge next year many websites are reporting that their search has sent them to Germany and Philipp Lahm.Regarded by many as one of the top left backs in the world and regularly linked with Manchester Utd over the past couple of seasons, Lahm is very much a realistic target. The full backs contract is slowly running down with no sign that he is interested in renewing it. Liverpool are known to be in the market for a left back after there failed persuit for Heinze last season. Lahm would cost around £12 million but would add solidity at left back as well as another attacking element to the side. Keep an eye on this one." http://www.lfcfans.co.uk/2008/04/liverpool-look-to-lahm/
John am Rhein Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 Exception to the rule that Bundesliga players are generally crap (by our standards). Would be a good buy.

We could sell JAR and try to raise the remaining £11.75m ...Only joking
Romario Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 Yes yes yes yes yes yes and finally yes. This is more like it. Top drawer player.
DJS Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 What a superb signing he would be. Unfortunately, it probably wont happen though.
fyds Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 That's your website isn't itOh you're such an old cynic!
Hassony Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 NYR will probably cream his pants when he opens this thread
johngibo YPC Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 Realistically we should get £8m for JAR? no chance
Guest Prongsy Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 Would be a massive buy for us. That is the type of player that could make that position his own for many years. 12m is nothing for him.
honourablegeorge Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 Funny how we're suddenly being linked with the darlings of European football like Modric and Lahm, the same week as Hicks PS machine begins his arttempts to drag everyone else at the club through the mud.
Ronnie Whelan Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 no chance You dont think Kevin Keegan would love to see JAR running down the left and blasting them into Row Z from 35 yeards? I think plenty of teams would pay that or close to that figure.
Barnesy_10 Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 that site is the same place that said we are in for Joe Cole as well... there is no way on earth any player would want to move to us with the current situation.... and there is also no way we would go in for any big players when we aint got a clue where the money will be coming from... Unless stuff gets sorted off the field then I can see this summer seeing maybe a couple of low profile loan moves and maybe a couple of low price signings.

theredfella Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 Lahm is very good but I'd like to see a left footer at left back rather than another square peg in a round hole. As for Riise, we'll get £3m at the most. His deal's up at the end of next season.
Guest Prongsy Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 He most certainly isn't a square peg in a round hole. He can play right back, too.

We could easily afford Lahm, and who wouldn't want to come here?
Herbie von Smalls Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 speculative nonsense, alas. not an ounce of substance in the claim. i'd love to see lahm here, mind. the last german full-back we had was superb... before his tragic illness, obviously.

Guest Prongsy Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 Babbel was such an incredible player. One of my favorite players, actually.
