Tough game to make your debut in especially since he was surrounded by other young players and fringe players but he did really well. Read somewhere his passing stats where 87% and he saw as much of the ball as Fabregas thats very impressive.

Looked very composed.

Makes you wonder how many of our ressies could make the step up too?

'composed' seems a really good word to describe him, looked calm, didn't look over awed, decent debut.

Starting to think that Rafa has something to do with it, Agger, Skrtel, Lucas, Plessis all at least look composed playing for us...

I thought he was fantastic today. For someone so young to play the way he did against Arsenal was absolutely top drawer.

Hopefully he will bulk up a bit and become a regular over the coming seasons. Shows that Rafa is willing to give the youngsters a chance.

I've watched him in most of his reserve games and it's no surprise he got this opportunity. It shows how much Rafa thinks of him to give him this chance to debut. Maybe he's the player that we all that Momo was promising to be.

Reports re. his performances for the reserves suggested he was composed but questioned his pace but after watching this game tonight I think we have a star. Nerveless debut and now wonder about some of the other reserves. Poor old Arsene must have wondered who the hell is this.

I've been to all the home ressies games this season and Plessis has looked the most likely to make the step up to me. The biggest compliment I can pay him is that he played today just like he does for the ressies, calm and assured, keeping it simple and tidy with very good tackling and positioning. That's quite an achievement given the step up in quality he was facing.

I'm looking forward to Huyton_Plessis coming on soon and giving us his view on the new Viera!

the french do appear adept at producing this type of player

Don't want to go over the top but it does make you think how many of our reserves could make the step up.

Nemeth and Insua for example regularly shine at that level and Plessis has shown today if your confident in your own ability you can make the step up and play well.

Given some of the players we have in our squad on big wages, i hope a few of these reserves get a chance before we bring in more average squad players.

Thought he was excellent. So composed, calm, strong and efficient. Put himself about a bit as well.

If you were told to pick the player making their debut today I think he'd have been down the list, looked really assured.

Unlike the other player to make the step up from the last reserves game - Pennant.

Early doors I know, but one difference is he can pass the ball. Made one beauty out wide to Riise. But short and long passes were all good. Stopped Walcott dead in his tracks a few times.

If we win our next two PL games we'll have 4th sewn up and you may get your wish.

Not as raw as I expected, it was good to see him grow into the game. At first he played the game entirely in the direction he was looking but as the 2nd half progressed, he was confident enough to let the ball roll across his body and turn when under pressure - especially considering the consequences of losing the ball against Arsenal given how well they break with 2 or 3 passes.

Was a bit worried when he slashed at 2 balls on the edge of our box and made a mess of them but he recovered well and considering it was his debut - it was encouraging.

Very composed and comfortable on the ball. A pleasant surprise. Good passing. A good back up for Masch.

Lucas was very naive and childish on the ball. Maybe his English is still not good and he can't understand his teammates.

His English is actually pretty good. He just seems to not be able to understand he doesn't have time on the ball. He makes some killer ghosting runs into the box though, but only 2 or 3 a game when it should be much more.

Agreed some good runs. Also some great passing - it was Lucas that put Voronin in to round the keeper. He also played one glorious pass out to the wing between two Arsenal players for Pennant to run onto without breaking stride. Pennant did nothing with it typically! On both occasions he had time on the ball though...

Very good debut - didnt look out of place in any way.

As an aside, can you imagine the media w***fest if Wenger had thrown some unknown reserve kid in and he performed as well as that in a game as big as that ?

It's the end of this thread as we know it.
