I guess if you think hoofing the ball into the stands under only pressure you have created yourself, not protected your zone properly in the box and made a few sliding tackles is the sum of a great performance then you are right.

Skrtel did not play poorly today at all, but a few sliding tackles apart far away from dangerous positions he did nothing to catch my eye if I dont include the negatives.

I think it's because most people would say Alonso didn't have his best of games and Skrtel did very well.
