magneto Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Been really good today against Arsenal. Has the confidence to take on their players, make good crosses. Still Raw..but I wouldn't sell him.
FC Showster Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Been really good today against Arsenal. Has the confidence to take on their players, make good crosses. Still Raw..but I wouldn't sell him. Who would you play him instead of?
Guest Kaizer Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Should have scored at the start of the game, he has done nothing to impress me at all. Tidy player, but tidy is not good enough for us, he has found his level.
MFletcher Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 No harm in having players who are clearly good league players in the squad.
magneto Posted March 29, 2008 Author Posted March 29, 2008 His level i.e. taking Arsenal players on? I'd have him as an option/back up to a new right wing.
Guest GrandpaSimpson Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Could be a useful back-up but he'll be sold in the summer I reckon.
lfc003 Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 (edited) Honestly he's spent a year on loan in the premiership playing week in week out..Why the hell would he want to come back here and be 4th or 5th choice? I think he'll be sold in the summer Edited March 29, 2008 by lfc003
Cunny Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 From what I've seen of him and Lucas this season, I'd say Guthrie is the better player.
Maldini Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 He's a good player alright, but I reckon his value is higher now than it would be if he came back and spent a year as a bit-part player with us.
Maldini Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 From what I've seen of him and Lucas this season, I'd say Guthrie is the better player. Nah, not a chance.
josemisuncle Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Should have scored at the start of the game, he has done nothing to impress me at all. Tidy player, but tidy is not good enough for us, he has found his level.Agree, nice and tidy, no real penetration, no pace, no interest.
Guest Snorky Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 How many players that have gone on loan under Rafa have returned to be successful ?
Guest leonbrooks Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 From what I've seen of him and Lucas this season, I'd say Guthrie is the better player.agreed
Kuyt-fever Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 How many players that have gone on loan under Rafa have returned to be successful ? So it begins.
Benitez Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 How many players that have gone on loan under Rafa have returned to be successful ? there's a reason they go on loan in the first place, and it isn't usually cos they have great potential.
kenny7 Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 How many players that have gone on loan under Rafa have returned to be successful ? In my opinion he's been proved correct so far.
Sion Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 From what I've seen of him and Lucas this season, I'd say Guthrie is the better player. just no.
growler Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 didn't hobbs go on loan and is highly regarded? Same with Hamill and Anderson I thought.
Cunny Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 just no. Lucas didn't do much today to make me change my mind.
Cam Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 Lucas didn't do much today to make me change my mind.I'm convinced Moyes' halftime teamtalk included the phrase "get the ball to Lucas more".
Guest Anders Honoré Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 Think he would fit very well into our current system as undertsudy to Gerrard. Hope he gets a place in the squad next year.
muleskinner Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 Lucas made a couple of great sweeping crossfield passes to Babel. He has got good technique and a good footballing brain but he seems to dwell on the ball a bit. I'm sure he will sort that out. On oone occasion when he was caught in possession it was obvious that no one gave him a shout and it made it look worse than it was through no fault of his own.
RP Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 If a player gets dispossessed from behind like that (like Lucas did), it is nearly always a failure to get a shout that caused it. Can hardly fault Lucas for that.
Mikey Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 He(Lucas) seemed dead on his feet at the end, a close season spent working on his stamina and putting on a bit of muscle wouldn't hurt him at all as he's getting brushed off the ball far too easily at the moment. FWIW I reckon we could do a lot worse than Guthrie as 4/5th choice in CM.
