Honestly he's spent a year on loan in the premiership playing week in week out..Why the hell would he want to come back here and be 4th or 5th choice? I think he'll be sold in the summer

Think he would fit very well into our current system as undertsudy to Gerrard. Hope he gets a place in the squad next year.

Lucas made a couple of great sweeping crossfield passes to Babel. He has got good technique and a good footballing brain but he seems to dwell on the ball a bit. I'm sure he will sort that out. On oone occasion when he was caught in possession it was obvious that no one gave him a shout and it made it look worse than it was through no fault of his own.

If a player gets dispossessed from behind like that (like Lucas did), it is nearly always a failure to get a shout that caused it. Can hardly fault Lucas for that.

He(Lucas) seemed dead on his feet at the end, a close season spent working on his stamina and putting on a bit of muscle wouldn't hurt him at all as he's getting brushed off the ball far too easily at the moment.

 

FWIW I reckon we could do a lot worse than Guthrie as 4/5th choice in CM.
