There were many factors to Mascherano getting sent off, but who do you think is the most guilty ?

1. Bennett, making up for last weeks mistake

2. Masch, giving him the opportunity

3. Torres, for getting fouled twice in a row

Bennett for not being in control of the game at any point.

Mascherano for not having any common sense

Gerrard for not wading and having a word with Mascherano because HE IS THE CAPTAIN

Rafa' describes Masch' as a good "professional", but the way he acted from the minute he was first booked was very unprofessional.

Bennett refereed the match like he was a teacher in charge of a class of 4th formers.

Bennett is a disgrace as a supposedly impartial referee but Masch gave him every opportunity to send him off. Given all the fall out of Cole's behaviour midweek it was obvious there was going to be a crackdown and Masch offered himself up with his constant niggling dissent. it might be double standards given usually we are the least like this of the top 4 teams but it was painfully obvious it was going to happen. if we can all see this then surely one of our senior players ( yes Gerrard, but also Alonso , Reina and Carragher) or our bench could have also seen what was going to happen and had a word ten minutes or so before he got sent off. The final offence wasn't a yellow card in iteslf but it was the total effectof his constant sniping. If Rooney had been sent off for this we'd all be rubbing our hands with glee and saying he deserved it.

Bennett is a kn*b but Masch was stupid and contributed heavily to his own downfall and our defeat. He is a young lad hopefully he will learn from this and we won't suffer from his absence against the bluesh*te next week.

Despite all the foaming at the mouth about being cheated. This is exactly right Pam.

And i could not care less if it is seen as disgraceful but i will ask again where was the captain, tying his shoe laces?

But Steve is the one with the captain's armband and so the responsibility of having a word with a player when there are being as irresponsible/reckless as Mascherano was in the whole of that 1st half fall's solely to him as captain.

Bennett. Grade A c*** chosen by a drunk c***, who manages a c*** of a club, with c*** supporters.

Because he was cautioned, because as it was dealt with at the time so no further action.

The FA will through the book at Mascherano, I reckon his season is finished.

I think he'll be done for the year also.

He was an absolute fool to have done what he did.

But, here's what should have happened. At the first booking, Stevie should have been over there and the ref should have calmed them down and warned them. Stevie did b*gger all when it was clearly getting heated at that point despite knowing that the league was going to look out for dissent.

A captain has a job to do and Stevie didn't do it. He seems to think it is only his job to be inspirational. It's more than that.

Bennett is solely responsible for it.

He has created an atmosphere where anyone who questions him about a decision more than twice can expect a yellow card.

Torres was booked for correctly pointing out that he just had lumps kicked out of him and we'd had Mascherano booked for less than that. When Mascherano correctly took the referee to task about the inconsistencies, he was completely ignored and then sent off.

A competent referee would have handled the situation differently. Bennett wouldn't look out of place as an authority figure in a Victorian era boarding school - an absolute c*** who demands respect but gives none.

They're not going to ban Masch for 8 games - even Keane got less for GBH on Haaland.

He'll get at most a game extension, otherwise you're equating it to violent conduct

It's like life.

This country is the pits. You will get treated more harshly for stealing money than killing someone.

So when it comes to discipline in football, break someones leg and it's fine, but talk to a referee and it's Siberia with no chance of parole.
