When one of the team is acting a t*** and is obviously talking himself into a sending off where the f*** was the captain?

Another embarresing pasting. Mascherano and Gerrard should be ashamed of themselves.

Kuyt was the only one who had a go the rest looked like they could not give a s***.

Said the same thing more or less in the other thread.

Kuyt and Alonso where the only ones that looked half arsed at controlling him.

only on here could Gerrard somehow be blamed for that.

if you watch the f***ing replay instead f having a go you will see Gerrard grab masherano by the face and shout at him to calm down.

Kuyt is anti football

Gerrard was nowhere all game but i dont think he could have done anything to save Mascherano from self destructing. Alonso was right there and could see the situation yet didn't attempt to stop him from going upto the ref

Look I didn't see Gerrard go at him, but I'm not as pissed off at him as Javier, but he was always going to self desteuct, all it took was Gerrard to say to him and hammer the point homt to him to calm down.

I seen it comming.

f***s f***ing sake.

Sometimes a player can't be helped (e.g. Keegan in Shanks's last match). But I agree some players should have held him back - I can't remember where Gerrard was, but Alonso should have forced him away.

I think it must be remembered that Masch did not self destruct until after the red card, 'whats happening is a fair enough question when your centre forward gets booked for getting kicked.

blaming Gerrard is a joke btw.

Where was the captain for the first goal? Lost the ball to easily to Brown and then couldn't be arsed tracking him, ambling back slowly.

He's to be commended for getting a hold of Masch but it was at least 30 seconds too late - and very possibly 10 minutes. It may be tough to judge him on that but he definitely ought to have been right there the second Masch kicked off after the red card.

100% spot on.

Without going all Anti-Gerrard which I am not.

He never had one of his best games, and he didn't do a captains job in telling Mascherano to "Calm Down" before he actually got sent off.

It's as simple as that.

Protesting about a booking when you've been booked yourself is unwise at the best of times. But in the current climate it was utterly stupid and i have no sympathy for him at all.

I only hope the fa dont extend his ban due to his reaction at the red card

Gerrard cant be expected to babysit experienced international players can he?

And how do you know he didnt have a word at some point? Mascherano was on one all day, he wasnt calming down for anyone.

It's a difficult one. Alonso should have done more but it's hard to have a go because he's obviously not that kind of character. More leadership needed on the pitch that's for sure.

No idea where Gerrard was, possibly was too far away?

Still wasn't a second yellow though, that much is clear. Can't see what Redknapp's point is, his response to 'what was the offence' was 'he didn't need to get involved'.

It's fair enough but he CONSTANTLY at the referee all game, watch it again every decision he was at his face.

That happens in every game of football, its only since Cashley spat his dummy out that everyone is up in arms.

I'd be disgusted if our players didn't tell Bennett to f*** off at every opportunity...

Is correct - Masch did not deserve another yellow for that.

He didn't get the yellow card for just that incident

Two wrongs don't make a right Andy Gray is right, but Mascherano could/should have been controlled.

It is the captains job to talk to the ref about decisions, torres had been kicked all over the place repeatadly and asked the ref what the f'ck was going on and was ridiculously booked, gerrard then should have been straight over to the ref asking what the f'ckin hell he was playing at and if there had been a rule change since yesterdays premier league games

Not annonyed with Gerrard for the Masch incident, but in general he was poor in the first half. He looses the ball and a guy is two yards away and he does not even try to tackle. I honestly thougth he was imjured. Then in the second half he comes to life for 10 mins... I just cant understand it
