...but does Rafa sound 'pissed'?

Tell her she's having it on the plane. After she's carried my hand luggage on board.

rafa is not happy at all apparently

Well, he's dreading Xabi's reaction when the baby comes out and it's got a goatee.

His brother isn't getting a game for Bolton. Why the Feck can't he hold her hand.

She probably wouldn't even notice the difference.

Wouldn't be surprised, he missed his dad's funeral for the club.

Different situation though I know, don't blame Xabi. Shame though, we could do with all of our first team tomorrow.

'People don't realise that getting married which Robbie did in the summer

and becoming a family man can affect you. It's a hell of a transition which

can have dramatic consequences. I remember Bob Paisley used to say you

would have to forget players for up to 12 months if they had just got married

and had children.'

Or not.

I'm hoping something is getting in lost in translation here, but if Rafa is not getting where Xabi's priorities have to lie here, it's an appalling piece of man management.

Xabi Alonso to miss Inter clash after row with Rafael Benitez

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE SENSATION Xabi to miss Milan clash after baby row with Rafa

By David Maddock 11/03/2008

Liverpool's Champions League plans were in turmoil last night after Rafa Benitez banned Xabi Alonso from the side to face Inter Milan.

Alonso's Anfield future is in serious doubt after their falling-out overshadowed Liverpool's build-up to this evening's big game.

The Spaniard wanted to be with his girlfriend Nagore for the birth of his first child before travelling to Italy on a later flight than his team-mates for the crunch encounter at the San Siro.

But Benitez, frustrated and angry, ruled out the prospect of Alonso making the trip, and insisted he was ready to go with the players who travelled.

"We could not wait and hear no information," he said. "In the end we had to decide because I can't wait and wait and wait for one player right until the end, when you don't know what's going on.

"The question is, when you can't change anything, the most important thing is to think about what you do with the other players."

Benitez's actions will shock many observers who believe that Alonso has the right to attend the birth of his child.

But the Liverpool boss was adamant that nothing would disrupt his plans as he plotted his side's route into the last eight.

Tension has simmered between the pair for months as Alonso has struggled to regain his place after a lengthy absence with a broken metatarsal.

The Spanish midfielder was angry that he was overlooked for youngster Lucas Leiva, a player with lesser experience, and had several showdowns with his manager.

This new problem comes just days after it seemed Alonso had finally regained his place, after star ting in impressive victories against Bolton, West Ham and Newcastle.

Differnet takes on it in different papers, the gist seems to be that Xabi wanted to fly out late and join up if she dropped in time, but Rafa didn't want to take the chance he might not make it, and wanted to have his team decided in time.

Bit harsh by Rafa this.

No need for Rafa to drag this into the public arena. Just say he is unavailable because his girlfriend is expecting - why all the "I cannot wait, wait, wait" stuff?
