Barnesy_10 Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 The old guy I sit next to at the match was telling me today that his Son did the Liverpool half marathon last week. He turned round to see Pako running behind him. He ended up jogging with him for most of the way.... apparently hes still on the payroll to stop him going elsewhere till the end of the season. Hes already arranged to go to Chelsea next season.
Guest JV Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 (edited) Hasn't he already had a job elsewhere though?Yes. Maybe the clause is he can't work in England though? Edited March 8, 2008 by JV
fyds Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 (edited) He's very good, but he's a fitness coach. Should be fun for him next year then trying to get fat Fw*** fit as he demands Pako should 'Respec' mah Authoritah', while Terry tells him he's a 'Street Dog' before trying to shag his leg. Don't see it myself, but hey... Edited March 9, 2008 by fyds
Benitez Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 Hasn't he already had a job elsewhere though? yeah, and didn't he get sacked after a few games. I guess Liverpool didn't mind him going to a 2nd division team in Spain!

Foxtrot Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 yeah, and didn't he get sacked after a few games. I guess Liverpool didn't mind him going to a 2nd division team in Spain! He quit.
fyds Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 To be a pedant, Chelsea are fitter than us, they get around the pitch faster and for longer periods, Lampard plays a hell of a lot of gamesAlways has a rest when he plays us - at least I can't remember seeing him on the pitch that often. I'd dispute the idea that they were fitter than us. They have some very fit players but then so do we. Who have they got who is fitter than Torres, Gerrard, Mascherano, Kuyt, Arbeloa, Reina (who doesn't wear a cold war soviet tank commanders helmet liner either!), Skrtel, Carra etc? In fact some of us are certainly fitter than some of theirs.
RP Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 To be a pedant, Chelsea are fitter than us I've never seen any evidence of that.
Guest Snorky Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 I've never seen any evidence of that. Maybe they are talking about something else
Guest Anders Honoré Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 I've never seen any evidence of that. Last time we played them in the CL they certainly seemed to have stronger legs towards the end than we did.
Hassony Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Last time we played them in the CL they certainly seemed to have stronger legs towards the end than we did.Thats because they rotate more
Guest Anders Honoré Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 (edited) Don't see that at all. As I recall it, they were the ones with the willingness to try and win the game in extra-time at Anfield. We looked much more tired out there, Edited March 10, 2008 by Anders Honoré
AE Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 As I recall it, they were the ones with the willingness to try and win the game in extra-time at Anfield. We looked much more tired out there, Would that have been because they were losing by any chance?
Hassony Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Would that have been because they were losing by any chance? We also scored and had the best chance to win it at the end
Guest Anders Honoré Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Would that have been because they were losing by any chance? No. It went to penalties.
yellow jumper Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Last time we played them in the CL they certainly seemed to have stronger legs towards the end than we did. we battered them start to finish. the times they've looked fitter than us are the times they've dominated possession.
Hassony Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 No. It went to penalties. Thats because they were more worried about penalties and as i said we had the best chances to win it during extra time
Guest Anders Honoré Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Thats because they were more worried about penalties and as i said we had the best chances to win it during extra time Having the best chances to win isn't necessarily a reflection of who looked most capable of running. I thought we looked far more jaded than they did in extra-time.
jimmylibel Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Having the best chances to win isn't necessarily a reflection of who looked most capable of running. I thought we looked far more jaded than they did in extra-time. No we didn't. We were the only ones to look like scoring in extra time. But it doesn't really matter what they were like last season. Rimbeaux point relates to the post Pako era and I don't think we look anywhere near as fit as we did last season to be honest.
fyds Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Last time we played them in the CL they certainly seemed to have stronger legs towards the end than we did. What? We battered them and had a good goal ruled offside! I thought they looked lost and devoid of ideas.
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Last time we played them in the CL they certainly seemed to have stronger legs towards the end than we did.won't swap our European Cup record for theirs. they can be as fit as they like as long as they keep losing to us
