Looking for a cyber punch up? why not open a thread which openly challenges the perceived wisdom about Hicks

Well what exactly is the problem

1. After alot of miscommunication (in both directions) Hicks has publically stated that he wants Benitez to see out his contract

2. Benitez has revealed that he receives constant support and emails from Hicks (not Gillett interestingly)

3. The accusation that Hicks sought to destabilise Benitez by speaking to Klinsmann could just be as the american said down to protecting the club

4. The stadium plans are progressing, some hitches along the way, but still close enough to the originally reviewed plans to excite me at least

5. Record money made available for players chosen by Benitez. Torres a record signing for a striker, Skrtel a record signing for a defender and Mascherano (i think) possibly a record signing for a midfielder depending on rumours and interpretation

Ok so its a positive gloss and I'm not completely convinced myself but they are tangible points which makes some of the extreme criticism of the owners look over the top

The financing issue is a big negative but for me the culprit on that is more Parry and Moores fault. Debt is a factor of life, its how its managed that the key and if Hicks can manage it it shouldnt be a concern of the fans

Tw other small points to throw in

For all the guff and bluster never has there been talk from the americans of groundshare or hiking ticket prices which are of more significance to me

There's been a carefully constructed campaign of hatred against Hicks, the American may have played fast and loose but does he deserve the outright vilification he and his family get

There is a change of culture going on at anfield and like it or not most of us wanted it when Moores was at the helm. Performances on and off the park will be increasingly more critical and pressure greater due to Hicks intervention

Is this something to fear necessarily or could it be in the interests of the club in the long term? and would DIC care more about being custodians

Not being funny, just challenging a few ingrained perceptions, its my way

No debt will be put on the club - it is.

They iied.

Publicly admitting they approached another manager.

You lieing b******s, get out of our club.

FFS - You must be f'ckin joking, surely.

If we ever win the League (or any other trophy) under these c*nts it'll be in spite of, not because of.

They've dragged this club through the sewer.

How exactly are the stadium plans progressing. What we have are some pretty pictures. We had pretty pictures 6 years ago. Ok the new pictures are abit prettier. Is that progress to you????

5. Record money made available for players chosen by Benitez. Torres a record signing for a striker, Skrtel a record signing for a defender and Mascherano (i think) possibly a record signing for a midfielder depending on rumours and interpretation

The spending in the summer was mostly financed by sales and an increase in revenue. ANy further money needed was just placed on the club as debt. Anyone can buy a player and place the debt on an organisation. It doesn't make you a good owner. Risdale spent f*** loads of other peoples money at Leeds. Hicks hasn't spent 1p of his own money on the club. We made a net profit on transfers in january. We got more for Sissoko than we spent on Skrtel. We haven't signed Mascherano yet.

For all the guff and bluster never has there been talk from the americans of groundshare or hiking ticket prices which are of more significance to me

There are no guarantees that these things won't happen

Not being funny, just challenging a few ingrained perceptions, its my way

And i'm just pointing out that most of what you have said is b******s. Thats my way

Easy to have a rethink when one of the owners has managed to shut his gob for the first time in awhile and that might only be becos there is a strong possibility he is selling up anyway, just becos its gone quiet it does not mean things are settling down ,it just means there is a power vacuum and the club is paralysed by inaction and two owners who allegedly don't get on,it still makes them c**** who need shifting out ASAP.

'The stadium plans are progressing'...are they? why...becos they showed us a new set of pictures, untill something is getting built before your very eyes then its a load of b******s.

Well, that's not what was said. They said the club is being purchased with no debt on the club.

Just to clear that one up.

and to take it a step further, all the debt for purchasing the club is actually on their KOP Holdings business. the only debt on the club right now is the money to start the stadium, working capital, and the money that was used to purchase torres, babel etc from the summer.

think we all know its b******s and that the club will end up servicing that debt too etc, but that's how it played out.

great. so they bought the club without any debt but they were happy to load the club with debt 12 months later.

thats ok then.

glad we cleared that one up.

Well, one is a lie and the other isn't. If someone is going to call them a liar for it, they need to get it right on what they actually did or didn't say. Otherwise we might aswell just make it all up... well, even more than has already been made up.

I don't particularly like them, but they've not done half as much wrong as they are accused of. If they kept quiet about Klinsman and discretely changed the plans for the stadium then they wouldn't be in half the bother they are in.

Still t***s, just not quite as t***ish as they are being made out to be. DIC won't finance things much differently, either.

I believe H&G will only seel if there's sufficient profit in it for them. If they do, we can only hope that DIC will prove more benevolent owners.

If they don't sell we will find out in the summer how ambitious they are in terms of how much money they make available for transfers etc. Rafa will keep his job IMO if he secures 4th place and takes us further in the CL.

If they are staying H&G need to be seen to be making specific progress with the new stadium.

The club is now in the hands of big business, we are simply the customers. Whether H&G are the right people to run the club is a completly different subject

But they didn't did they....

That's a major assumption you're making there. Any facts to back it up ?

Picture the scene, you suspect i am cracking on to your wife. We are on our way to the boozer. You say "listen, you better not try and shag my wife tonight" and i say "look i promise i won't".

Three weeks later you find me in bed with her. You say "what the f*** are you doing, i warned you" and i go "come on mate, i only promised i wouldn't shag her that night"

Now are you going to have a debate with me over whether i technically lied to you, or are you going to kick f*** out of me. Get it? Its the actions rather than their wording that has bothered people

1) That's the way they (DIC) normally finance deals

2) They aren't stupid.

So yeah, assumptions, but I regard them as pretty safe bets.

Thanks for the enlightening scenario, you've really made me 'get it'. ;)

I'm pretty much the polite old sod round here, so it gives me no great pleasure to tell you that if you believe any of what you have posted above you have had your brain removed and replaced by a cauliflower.

You're not challenging ingrained perceptions, you're ignoring plain, simple, attributable and quantifiable facts.

Yes they did.

They couldn't have acquired the club from Moores without making that promise. Once they had control, it didn't matter.
