Redwire Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 The repeated YNWA last night was stunning. I’ve never heard that in 30 years of going to the game. Even turning the volume up on that Champions League dirge had little effect and it was a pity that the TV coverage was showing adverts at the time. I think the crowd was excellent last night. At any other ground in the country the supporters would have been on the players’ backs in the second half, letting their frustrations be known on the pitch, but our lot last night kept their patience just like the team did and together got a great result. I was proud to be part of it.
Hobbsie Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 Horrible butchered version of Zardok the Priest - I can live without it..

I even had to tell the Lower Anny to sit down Edited February 20, 2008 by Snorky

The ynwa was superb, even the lower Cent started some songs off. I even had to tell the Lower Anny to sit down I was in the upper anny and heard when you said that. Mind you, I've been in the restricted views at the very back of the lower anny, and I feel their pain. It was f***ing loud last night. I'd not been in the upper anny, so I wasn't sure if it just caught the noise better or something, but I was speaking to a fella who was in the Kop who confirmed it. The highlights when I got in didn't seem too loud, though. The 'Blue and White s****' for the red card was a nice touch, as well...

I've never heard YNWA like that... it was a real statement of support. Pity because it wasn't on tele most fans won't be aware of it, and the media certainly won't mention it!!

Pity because it wasn't on tele most fans won't be aware of it, and the media certainly won't mention it!! First I've heard that in well over 30 years too, was in the paddock with my son. Amazing atmosphere. I thought YNWA had been turned down and it was just too loud to even hear any CL music. The way it should be.
AE Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 (edited) I make the mistake of tuning into Talk**** this morning.I swear they had a Liverpool fan email/text saying it was his first time at Anfield and the atmosphere was **** Edited February 20, 2008 by AE

It was on TV in italy, one of my inter supporting friends said it made the hairs on the back of their neck go. great rendition
Guest PaulMcC Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 One complaint is how loud they played the s***ty pop music before YNWA. They should've played f*** all and let the fans get on with creating an atmosphere.
Duncan Disorderly Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 Is it true the Inter fans applauded the whole way through YNWA at the start?

Duncan Disorderly Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 Nice one! Seems like they were really relishing the whole experience. Inter would be my "Italian team", especially as they were banned by Mussolini for being a communist team.
Guest Snorky Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 Is it true the Inter fans applauded the whole way through YNWA at the start? No, they stood in respectful silence taking photos etc etc and then clapped when it finished.
Hightown Phil Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 I heard the music while I was having a burst before kick off.
Kuyt-fever Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 It was brilliant last night. Repeating it was a terrific touch despite it meaning we couldnt hear what the greatest sound of all.
Cliff M Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 Great atmosphere, first time I've heard YNWA sung as a "loop" ie non-stop and without any pauses between renditions. Was good.
Guest Machac13 Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 Damn Espn and not showing the signing of YNWA!! That is what sucks with living in America!! They have no respect for tradition, instead they have to air commercials! If anyone has a video from last night please share it! Tell you one thing i was at work watching the game and my coworker could hear me yelling when Dirk striked one home and she was at the end of a 300 ft hallway in the middle of the mall!! I was jumping and screaming i probably looked like a damned fool!!
liveabiglife Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 Totally agree about last night - awesome and loud. So hoarse at work today - couldn't stop drinking tea all day, throat so damn sore. And the 'Walk On' loop, as mentioned previously, was amazing . Watching it now on TV, can't believe they cut to ads and missed the blo*dy lot! Hopefully they'll show it all on LFCTV - I assume the game will be shown. My lad (7) talked pretty much non stop all the three hours home and then bombarded his Mum when we walked through the door at 1 am and still hasn't come down. It's like he's on some sort of mega sugar rush or something. He's more hyped about this than teh semi from last year. It's really funny to watch. All the manc fans (so that's pretty much everyone except him and a Chelski fan) at his school had told him we'd get rolled over big time, so he's been giving it large all day. Fantastic stuff. Score in Milan and we're through. Don't score and it'll be nervy, but you've got to fancy it now. GAME ON!!

I'm planning to tape it off LFCTV if it's on, so I'll happily sling you a DVD if you aren't already sorted, just shout up if that helps.
Cliff M Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 Plenty of clips of the YNWA renditions on YouTube.
