thought he had his best game for a while last night, made a refreshing change seeing him beat the full back and cut inside, caused a lot of problems for Inter last night. would like to see more of this from Finnan, he has been more miss than hit the past few months.

Although I agree, I think the lack of strength from the Inter defence and the overall confidence of the side last night would of contributed to it.

Still great performance from one of my favourites....

Spot on, had thought he was dreadful of late but definitely back to his 'marauding' best last night. Allowed us to stay wide at a time when Inter were trying to squeeze the formation with 10 men

He did well in the second half, but I think his time has come. We need a much stronger player in that position.

totally agree.....he was fantastic last night. His best game in a long time. A candidate for man of the match..... cant say much for aurelio on the other side...he should have been doing the same thing

he had a really good game but it's a lot easier to press on in a slower-paced match against a side of ten men who are sitting back and inviting you.

not the point though Stevie who he was up against, when you look at the blert we had on the other side, who couldn't beat eggs and continally gave the ball away. and as for the issue of it being easier to playa gaionst a full back sitting deep, i would actually disagree, as there is less space to get in behind, something Finnan did a lot of last night

I thought everyone except Torres, Gerrard and Mascherano lifted themselves out of the slump we seem to have been in right from the start. The aforementioned three obviously didn't need to, but even Carragher was passing to a red shirt and seemed to have left his lofted long ball boots at home - he only hit one the entire match.

Finnan looked back to his old self from the start.

Finnan had a very good game, sure he was playing right midfield for most of it.

People were harping on about not having an attacking full back - I think he showed last night how he can do it.

Can't help but think it was because he was playing a European side.

their defence was excellent last night up aside from the goals. they took everything we had to throw at them and weren't far off from taking a draw back to the san siro.

it was a mark of how well we played that the inter defence was breached at all and Finnan kept them busy throughout the entire match.

He had a good game by his standards. He did nowt wrong defensively, but then Inter hardly troubled us, but given the time and space he had the final product wasn't all that IMO.

I thought he was a bag of c**k myself - but I'm sure that once he gets back into the swing of things he'll be back to his normal self.

Finnan had a very good game. Even late on, when Pennant was on, Finnan did a lot more with the ball and was a lot more alive to the game. Hope its a return to form.

Dont think he did much wrong tbh

think it was a big argument for releasing the full backs.

Finnan is a good fullback defensively, but he's also very good going forward

You're right - and I'm being very harsh to be honest.

I was comparing how he was (Looking a bit Rusty to me) last night - compared to his usual excellent composed and understated (And usually unappreciated) best.

You couldn't take the heat after all the praise you got for the thread you started yesterday, so you just want to be back to your usual controversial self ;)

I thought he got forward well and joined in the attack, but his crossing was absolutely woeful, he's usually so accurate, but I don't think one of his crosses got near a teammate last night, he hit the first man three or four times.

Agree and several times he was still on the back foot when it needed someone overlapping.

But like Wayne says, his best performance from some time. I think he's a key player
