Huyton_Red Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 Cant see another thread on this Thought it was a really bad subsition for the second game in a row to take babbel off. Can anyone explain why they took him off again, just like against chelsea when he was looking really dangerous On a positive note he is starting to look a player now isnt he. I think he has been our best player the last two games.
Knoxy Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 Very hit and miss, always looked capable of doing more than he actually manages to do. Class for the goal, but gave the ball away far too often
Dan Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 Thought he was very erratic all game and said so at the time. Great for the goal but no end product apart from that ball for Kuyt. Still I reckon that will come with time.

Chili Palmer Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 mentioned in a lot of threads. ridiculous decision, he was our only threat...the ground booed the decision. alot of people on here said he didn't do much. having said that, he could have still been our best player...
Bailo Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 Don't think he did much with the ball after he set up the goal, in which he did very well. I think Kaiser said it, that sometimes he gets too close to a defender, allowing them to nick it off him. We also don't know what his stamina levels are like at the moment. TBF, Kewell nearly scored our second soon after he came on, cannoned it off the top of the bar. If that had gone in, some would be lauding the change (some would be criticising Rafa for not bringing him on earlier mind).
Bailo Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 And it's f***ing Babel. It's not hard. Though I'm sure a thread with the exact same title appeared after that Villa game years ago.
pipnasty Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 And it's f***ing Babel. It's not hard. Boerboel surely?
Bailo Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 Boerboel surely? It's not like you even have to descend into Will-like tedium e.g Gonzalez
Tetti Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 He was f***ed at Chelsea. so that one doesn't count. Tired players need to come off.
Guest Doakes Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 at least he's starting to become indispensable to the team. you've gotta give some credit to rafa for that.
plonky Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 Didn't have his best game BUT he was the most direct player on the pitch
Florist Cinema Pond Goal Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 I hope it isn't the case but I suspect Inter was in Rafa's thoughts and the substitution was pre-meditated.
Frosty Jack Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 I hope it isn't the case but I suspect Inter was in Rafa's thoughts and the substitution was pre-meditated. Indeed, as the fully fit firing on all cylinders like a new signing harry kewell is unlikely to start on tuesday.
psl Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 It's not like you even have to descend into Will-like tedium e.g Gonzalez Its like people STILL writing Gerrard Houllier.
Will Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 I was informed that he wwent off cos he was injured But the point is that he practically never gets a full 90 cos he can't hack it Should have brought on Pennant for him rather than HK who is now an utter waste of a shirt
Guest Snorky Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 I hope it isn't the case but I suspect Inter was in Rafa's thoughts and the substitution was pre-meditated. I have long believed that Rafa concentrates too much on the next game rather than the one going on infront of his eyes.
Frosty Jack Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 I have long believed that Rafa concentrates too much on the next game rather than the one going on infront of his eyes. Do you think the FA Cup is as important as the European Cup?
Mike Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 I was informed that he wwent off cos he was injured But the point is that he practically never gets a full 90 cos he can't hack it Should have brought on Pennant for him rather than HK who is now an utter waste of a shirt id go with that
D.Boon Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 Ive got a lot of time for Babel and consider it just a matter of time before he hits consistency. Kewell on the other hand sums all that is wrong with the team. A lethargic, toothless waster. He belongs knowhere near Liverpool and yet...........Rafa continues to pick him Puzzling times at Anfield
Falconhoof Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 I was informed that he wwent off cos he was injured But the point is that he practically never gets a full 90 cos he can't hack it Should have brought on Pennant for him rather than HK who is now an utter waste of a shirt agree with that. Pennant seems to find Crouch with his crosses quite well.
