Hightown Phil Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 Tell me, who do you replace him with? Regardless of what you think. There is actually NO ONE.
Stevie H Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 and anyone who says mourinho gets put in the stocks and pelted with rotten lava pies.
McBain Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 (edited) The same question was asked when GH was booted but we found Rafa There are always options Also, i like the 'regardless of what you think' bit. No arrogance there Edited February 17, 2008 by Mcbain
Tones Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 (edited) Well im not one who wants him out yet but i dont believe there is no one out there that could replace him. I remember all our doubts about getting rid of GH. A lot similar to what being said now. Who do we replace him with? Getting rid will mean wholesale changes and i think we just need tweaked. What about the young players hes bringing in, a new manager may not have that knowledge of youth players. All these were said about GH, and lots of people wanted him to stay at the club so he could bring in young players and oversee the academy and stuff, yet all his young players turned into flops. It was shown that those points can be overcome. Im not sure i want Rafa out, i think he has shown glimpses in the past of what he can do but hes not doing it enough. But i dont believe there isnt a manager out there who can give us a better league challenge with the backing he has had. Thankfully, its not my job (or any other posters job) to come up with a replacement if he does go. Just becuae you feel the current manager isnt good enough doesn mean you have to know who is replacement will be. Edited February 17, 2008 by t1971

Stevie H Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 people are mentioning hitzfeld - he's already taken a job for next season. people are mentioning lippi - he's old and speaks less english than a martian does. hiddink? not exactly got a brilliant record at club level. key thing about these three is that they're all getting very old. not exactly putting in a legacy and planning for the long term is it? if / when we get shut of rafa we're back to square one and debating whether to get a quick fix short term ageing manager in or to invest properly in a younger man like a didier deschamps and back him for a ten year stint like united did with a young ferguson and arsenal did with a young wenger. but in the days of instant football fixes we will not do that as we haven't done with rafa benitez.
Herbie von Smalls Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 il don glen hoddle. paul ince as his consigliere.
Guest Snorky Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 Thinking about this for ages and I've got one for you. Jamie Carragher as player/manager for the short term. Get in a number two along the lines of a Phil Thompson, Roy Evans to be his eyes and ears off the pitch during the game. Jamie will instantly get the respect of the players. Then in the summer get Sami to get his coaching badges and take it from there.
Hightown Phil Posted February 17, 2008 Author Posted February 17, 2008 Jose MourinhoJose MourinhoJose MourinhoJose Mourinho Bit difficult really seeing as he's off to Milan in the summer. We might have found Rafa when Houllier went, but look now, there's f***ing nobody that is better and available. There's a major lack of top quality managers about.

Guest Snorky Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 That's outside the box, way outside the box, it may work, but if it doesn't, what do you do with Carragher? Deffo outside the box, but look at the advantages it brings. Jamie is probably the only player to galvanise the players and fans at the moment. I still believe that these players don't need all the tactics and formations running around their heads during the game. Football is a simple game and Jamie will take us back to basics immediately. The fans would immediately give him their backing as the know it's a gamble but I believe it would be a gamble that we could win. Jamie is not a fan of rotation, so the players would be playing for their shirt which would immediately improve the atmosphere around the club.

Stevie H Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 totally serious.then you need help mate. carra will probably one day make a good manager but to propose him now at a club the size of LFC is lunacy.
cocknose Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 He is a c***, but Mourinho would get this exact same squad playing better in the league, so its him for me, sorry
Guest Kaizer Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 If we wanted to replace Rafa there are 4 names I could think of that would be good options and also probably availible. 1. M.Lippi - unemployed2. J.Mourinho - unemployed3. D.Deschamps - unemployed4. J.Ferreira - Porto FC
