Even though he still leaves some fans unconvinced, a fantastic achievement:

Liverpool's clean sheet against Sunderland saw Pepe Reina break another club record.

The Spanish international became the quickest goalkeeper in Anfield history to keep 50 shut-outs in the league.

It has taken Reina 92 games to reach his half century – three fewer than Ray Clemence.

Here's how many games it took Liverpool's top stoppers to accumulate 50 clean sheets in the league:

Pepe Reina – 92

Ray Clemence - 95

Bruce Grobbelaar – 109

Elisha Scott - 135

David James - 136

Tommy Lawrence – 171

Sam Hardy – 185

From the official mouth-piece.

Best and most consistent performer for us this season.

Not sure about some fans being unconvinced, if there is would they please tell me how we could possibly get a better keeper.

He is a least among the top 5 keepers in the world.

And still only 25 years old, which is a kid in goalkeeping terms.

We are lucky to have him at the club. End of.

All of those other keepers had the luxury of playing before the back-pass rule too.

Clem and Grobbelaar also played behind the best defences the club ever had.

Pepe is arguably the best player in the squad.

Rafa should get some credit for this but he won't

I assume that they made a mistake in leaving Sander out of that list...

Add to his ability, he is a fantastic guy, humble, modest, cares about others and the fans. A true professional and a great ambassodor for the game

i've said this before, but Pepe is, IMO, the best keeper we have ever had.

He's the only player in the entire squad who's been anything close to consistant this season. Top keeper, Rafas best buy.

Excellent record for him to have :applause:

Funny talking to fans of other teams, they really don't rate him.

Got asked 'Don't you really s*** yourself when he comes for a cross'. I laughed and then realised why everyone seems to think that. The first few months, I did sort of s*** myself and then after a few months you realised 'Why the f*ck am I worrying here?' and you relax and get used to the way he catches (which still looks weird by the way), you realise how good he is. He'll never be rated by others as highly as he should be, as to the naked eye, he just looks uncomfortable and he'll never be your Shay Given type who just throws himself through the air when he could catch the ball.

at first I admit that I was a little unsure.. But its been a long time since ive felt unsure about Reina at all. He's pure class. rarely makes mistakes but when he does.,.. he gets back up.

I was a bit critical of him last season, as there were many who seemed happy to just gloss over some of the mistakes he made in the first part of the season.

He really has been immaculate for the past year though. I cannot recall a single mistake he has made. And he just has so much to his game in terms of anticipation, commanding the area, distribution, speed, reflexes, hell even penalties - simply a complete keeper. One of the very best around to my mind.

Only thing he could improve a bit still is his kicking. Other than that, it's hard to see how he could get much better. One of the top stars of the team.
