Paul_LFC Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 What a giant this bloke is for us. He was top class again today and he is playing like he is in his prime again. He's been our best defender this season and has stood out as a rare bright spot in our bad spell. He deserves credit and he also deserves a year extension to his contract straight away. Keep it up Sami lad!

Guz Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 He's absolutely brilliant and after a sloppy start has got better and better. Legend.
mathewbet1 Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 Seems to have got a yard of pace back from somewhere, always first to the ball and wins all 50/50's these days. As mentioned playing at the top of his game at the moment, a joy to watch sami in his prime.
Mike Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 one of the greatest liverpool defenders in our history. no question.
McBain Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 Going out on a high note Legend in every sense of the word
Rimbeux Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 If a likely this is his swansong, he's putting in a hell of a stint
Leroy Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 One of the games best readers of the game, what an awsome guy he is, just goes on and on.
growler Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 I thought he was playing in midfield today he was in the game so much.
Tyler Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 a legend is right has been a great servant to this team gets on with his job and pops up to score the odd volley against unbeatable italian opposition
Conrad Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 a legend is right has been a great servant to this team gets on with his job and pops up to score the odd volley against unbeatable italian opposition great Beckenbauer-esque run in the second half too
Alonso Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 One of my fav all time players, a real servant to the club. I wonder if this is his final season whether he could maybe have a role on the back room staff?
Jimi Rojo Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 Based on his performances why should it be his last season? The rest of the team should go first. (apart from Pepe)
Alonso Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 Based on his performances why should it be his last season? The rest of the team should go first. (apart from Pepe)Just going on the fact that he's outta contract in the summer, he's not getting any younger and we have Carragher Agger and now Skrtel all of whom will probably be ahead of him next season. Agree that he's been immense this season and would be handy as 4th choice but would he be happy with that? If not I really can't see him playing for another club so maybe a back room role might be something he'd consider.
Armin_Tamzarian Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 His critics have had their patronising faint praise rammed down their throats. Has been great all season but his last few games have been immense. Yesterday was ace, took a knock to the back of his head that would've knocked most players into next week, Sami just shook his head got up and got on with the game. He's hard as nails, has the best 'wasn't me' smile when he's caught bang to rights and when he hangs up his boots we'll have lost a colossus but gained a legend. Hail Sami!

Deserves another year though even if he plays less. I can't see him finishing up at Wigan or Derby, just to play a bit more.
Hieronymus Bosch Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 I thought he was finished after a terrible start to the season, but he's been immense since. I love Rafa and think people go overboard about him rotating the team, but, with Agger being injured, Hyypia has clearly benefited from a prolonged run.
Tyler Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 maybe i'm dreamingsome day?didi hamann managing the team and sami as his number 2 i can see sami going to a "lesser" team next yearhe'd be f*cking immense in a team with its backs to the wall

MFletcher Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 Sami has been our best defender by some distance this season.
So Cal Red Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 immense player. slow start to the season but really picked up his level of play. i really hope he can pull a Paolo Maldini & stick around a few years longer! remember back in October when we were debating about how Sami should not be sold in the January transfer window b/c it'd be an injustice for us to the Premiership trophy without him in the side?! Our most consistent player this season i think Mascherano can lay claim to that.
Dan Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 one of the greatest liverpool defenders in our history. no question. Totally agree. That tw*t Marcotti had the gall to claim that he's "not a very good defender at all" last week on R5.
Swipe Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 i think Mascherano can lay claim to that. Not for me. Sami all the way.
