mathewbet1 Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 Dont get me wrong im Alonso's no 1 fan, but hes half player he was when he first signed for us. I'll go so far to say somtimes his lack of mobility and (now) erratic passing make him a liability in midfield. He gives away needless freekicks also. On the subject of passing wtf has happened to him?
Hassony Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 I get the feeling that his mind is already on a move back to spain in the summer.
Shirohana Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 He's Rafa's signing as well. And what does that have to do with anything. Agree with OP though, he is lacking at the moment. Hopefully when the team starts playing well again, we'll see him excel.
Toni Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 this is just his second I think full 90mins game after a long injury.
Ronnie Whelan Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 this is just his second I think full 90mins game after a long injury. Exactly, he will come good.
MFletcher Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 He's coming back to full fitness after three months out. He was doing very well at the start of the season prior to breaking his foot.
Cobs Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 I get the feeling that his mind is already on a move back to spain in the summer.you can see it in his eyes
D.Boon Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 He's coming back to full fitness after three months out. He was doing very well at the start of the season prior to breaking his foot. Not good enough, i want him playing at maximum efficiency the minute he is back playing. If not then he can sod off to Spain where he obviously would prefer to be. P.S Did i mention he is not that mobile?
Barnesy_10 Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 Stevie, Finnan and Carragher are half the players they were two years ago as well.... with the team in the state it is its unfair to pick out one player as being off form....though I agree, he along with the others mentioned are well below the quality they showed on a consistant basis a couple of years back.
Guest Ant Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 He's coming back to full fitness after three months out. He was doing very well at the start of the season prior to breaking his foot. He's our savoiur....Init
Rimbeux Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 Wouldn't have him in the side right now in the PL, we were overrun in midfield for a lot of last night and are in no position to get away with that.
Skillz Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 He's coming back to full fitness after three months out. He was doing very well at the start of the season prior to breaking his foot. Is right, well said.
johngibo YPC Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 He's our savoiur....Init whats up with you this morning?
madaboutlfc Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 He's Rafa's signing as well.whats has that got to do with the topic.. your digs at Rafa are childish but then again thats what you are
Stevie H Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 he's nowhere near match fit and last night was on his f***ing own against three of their midfield in the first half.
madaboutlfc Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 Not good enough, i want him playing at maximum efficiency the minute he is back playing. MFletcher Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 He's our savoiur....Init Do you not accept that he is playing his way into full fitness and cannot be expected to come straight back into the pace of the Premier League and perform at his highest level?

This is it, isn't it? Add Riise to the list. And Momo, and ... Has Gerrard developed the way we hoped? And what happened to Kuyt, who showed promise. We're in collective s***.
alias75 Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 Think Alonso could be off in the summer, while hes a great player and one of my favourite players to watch i think the PL isnt the right league for him. Hes not mobile enough, and not quick enough, teams understand now if they get tight to him and stop his passing you've stopped 50% of what makes him great. The fact too that hes no longer automatic first choice when Rafa trusted him so much before speaks volumes i think, in terms of performance and leading on the pitch i think Mascherano has overtaken Alonso and to some extent hes overtaken Stevie too. Lucas, Mascherano, and Stevie is a very strong 3 add Spearing to that, and use the 15-20 million we could get from Alonso to sign a replacement more suited to the pace of the PL and use the remainder on other areas of the team.
Magic8Ball Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 are players getting close to alonso when he plays with gerrard in a 2 man midfield or whenever he plays ? I think mash and alonso would be fine - arguable Leiva and Alonso too

I think mash and alonso would be fine - arguable Leiva and Alonso too Why? Are you suggesting he doesn't get the support? Do you think he'd be better further up? Last night for much of the first half it was Gerrard covering behind Alonso who couldn't deal with the pace of the game, he hardly got forward at all.
