alias75 Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 Pennant - hope soCrouch - touched the ball once in 90 min i think anyone else?
Guest Si Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 Stupid to base any players future on todays game. Pennant wasnt the worst by far.
AJ The Red Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 Rise and finnan are fished i think , our squad still needs that overhaul we started 20 yrs ago
koppper Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 Pennant was our best player after Benni....is Finnan reaching his sell by date?
alias75 Posted January 26, 2008 Author Posted January 26, 2008 Not basing it on this game but i think today would have been the last straw for Rafa on a couple of players. Your right Pennant wasnt the worst but he was poor and in 90 min of football at home against a non league team he hardly created a chance or made one for himself. Crouch looked like he couldnt be bothered, maybe the service was poor? but he didnt go looking for it either.
Maldini Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 Pennant was our second best player you absolute clown, did you even watch the game?
Hassony Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 we won, thats all that matters this was always going to be a strange game, we know players like pennant, crouch, kuyt, riise and finnan (this season) are not good enough for us in the long term, but like si said, we can't base anything on today's game
Gomez Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 Pennant - hope soCrouch - touched the ball once in 90 min i think anyone else? Pennant had a good game. I mean, not great considering the opposition, but he wouldn't have been the first name to jump into my head.
McBain Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 Pennant played well I thought Babel and Mascherano were the worst players on the pitch going forward. Though Masch did improve 2nd half whereas Babel was was abysmal all game Skrtel had a consistent game as well. Though not in the sense he would have hoped for
Earl Hafler Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 The lad from Romper Stomper, apparently. One indifferent game and he's s*** for life
koppper Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 Pennant was our second best player you absolute clown, did you even watch the game? Other than Benni, tell me who was better?
alias75 Posted January 26, 2008 Author Posted January 26, 2008 Pennant was our best player after Benni....is Finnan reaching his sell by date? Cant agree with that he obviously saw a lot of the ball but what did he do with it?
Maldini Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 Benayoun, Pennant and Lucas played well. Mascherano was alright. Babel was awful.
Magic8Ball Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 (edited) to be honest in the frst half I thought Rafa had sealed his own fate - " there is something rotten in the kingdom of denmark " something aint right with the team I think Rafa needs a number 2 ASAP and if Rafa's going to stay (keep his job) we need to start playing differently Edited January 26, 2008 by Magic8Ball
Maldini Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 Cant agree with that he obviously saw a lot of the ball but what did he do with it? He put a load of dangerous crosses into the box, it's not his fault nobody attacked them.
floyd the barber Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 this is a game where babel should`ve shown why we paid so much money.........he was simply awful today
Maldini Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 to be honest in the frst half I thought Rafa had sealed his own fate - " there is something rotten in the lkngdom of denmark " something aint right with the team I think Rafa needs a number 2 ASAP and if Rafa's going to stay (keep his job) we need to start playing differently He tried to bring in a #2 and was stopped.
psl Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 Maybe people will stop asking for him to play up front every game.
alias75 Posted January 26, 2008 Author Posted January 26, 2008 Pennant was our second best player you absolute clown, did you even watch the game? Yep i watched it, on what basis was he our 2nd best player? can't remember him creating much. Didnt really threaten to score, gave it away plenty of times. Im not saying he was the worst today, but others that also had similar games like Babel have proved they can offer us something, Pennant hasnt proved that, we need wingers that get assists and goals Pennant does neither my point is i think there are a few players that are playing for the futures and today would have made up Rafa's mind on a few of them. This isn't about who was better today, but which of those players aren't good enough for us and today just clarified that.
Jim D Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 The whole team was s****, there was no urgency or any creativity in our play and that is extremely worrying that we can't even do that against a team of part timers. Christ we stunk the place out.
Bailo Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 Yep i watched it, on what basis was he our 2nd best player? can't remember him creating much. Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 Don't know what's happened to Finnan.he looks like he's lost it
alias75 Posted January 26, 2008 Author Posted January 26, 2008 Just to clarify my point if we're basing it on just todays game there aren't many you'd keep, thats not my point. My point is we have 4 or 5 players in the squad that have it all to prove and how they play the remainder of this season could determine whether their sold or not, im just saying that i think after todays game Rafa would have made his mind up on 2 or 3 of those players. Wingers should be scoring and creating, Babel in his first season has been hit and miss but he has 7 goals, Pennants got 1 goal in almost 2 years, thats not good enough. Todays game we saw plenty of the ball Crouch touched it maybe 3 times the whole game and we hardly created a chance. The scary thing today is we took most of the chances we created, if we'd had a poor finishing day it could have been worse.
