Pro's: willing to build exceptional new stadium with bigger capacity

Not a company owned by an oppressive regime in the middle east

Understand the world of sport buinsess in terms of promotion finances ect

Con's Have leveled 105 million pounds worth of debt

Have broken their promises

Don't understand english football and it's organisations

Quick to temper, lack of restraint and consideration in deailing with internal affairs

Has produced one hell of a hysterical reaction from the fans, despite the fact they haven't changed much in terms of

ticket prices (like united) team structure (no sporting director ect)

As if not being from the middle east is a benefit somehow!

Pros:

We'll believe the stadium when it appears. Actions speak louder than words.

Not sure how the Maktoums are oppressive.

Their teams in the US don't win anything.

Cons:

They've lied and lied. And lied some more.

If you take the Chomsky line, we are in wage slavery in the West, with the means of production in private ownership

Agree with that. For me though, it's the uncertains, namely

will the back the manager from now on?

and

how much are they prepared to invest in the team?

that could be deciding in whether their future reign will be worthwhile at all. That and Hick's shutting up.

Lets take stock - nothing has changed.

They are liars.

Stadium build has been announced - for the third time.

Stadium build has not started.

This does not mean they are here to stay.

Its understandable, due to the circumstances, but peoples views are changing like my missus bloody moods. Lots of folks on here reminding me of that Paul Whitehouse character on Harry Enfield whose opinion changes every time one of his mates says something.

NOTHING HAS CHANGED. The Americans have proven to be liars, who have no regard for our respect or traditions. Theres only one fact beyond doubt. The owners are liars.

after refinancing?

Of course. The difference it makes is that there is no chance of a default on the loans due paid in a couple of weeks, which would have been a crazy thing for them to contemplate. Even if it costs them more than they hoped, as it has, even if they are still in the noose, they had to do this. It doesn't change the fact they have to find a way to pay for the stadium, and the clearest way to do that is sell at least some of the club to raise cash, or take a profit and sell on sooner or later to somebody who think they can finance the rest of the build. Got about a year...

They have lied i agree, but people need to think, will this contiuned triade of abuses and finance threats either benefit the club or compound the situation. Lets not forget gentlemen that besides the trouble of the pitch we have been below par as a team this season. We must assess in a calm manner as a fan collective and decide which way is best for the club rather than grasp at straws and hope for some buyout from the east.

hold on to that thought.

I agree with most of that. But the only two facts are :

i) nothing has changed, particularly in whether they are here to stay or not;

ii) the Americans have been proven to be liars with (in Hicks case) no respect for our history or traditions.

That last bit is the most important - its our tradition that defines us. Its what makes us who we are and what sets us apart from other clubs. If we allow our club to lose that then we are not the same club. Hicks won't change - he will never be able to keep his mouth shut.

TOM Hicks today released an image of Liverpool's planned new stadium as fans awaited the details of the promised refinancing deal.

But while the designs for Liverpool's new home are now in place, the fans are still awaiting details of how it will be paid for.

The refinancing package which the Hicks camp had indicated would be completed by yesterday had still not been concluded by the time the ECHO went to print today.

It is being stressed that the hold- up is an administrative one with lawyers having to plough through the necessary paperwork of such a major deal, and the ECHO understands Hicks is totally confident that it will now go through without a hitch.

But sources close to the proposed deal have suggested that George Gillett's necessary financial contribution to the deal is still to be received by the Royal Bank of Scotland and American investment back Wachovia who have come up with the proposed £350m loan.

Interestingly, George Gillett's name is conspicuous only by its absence on the press release which was issued to the ECHO by London PR firm Financial Dynamics today.

Of the £350m refinancing package £105m will be saddled on Liverpool, with £185m secured on Hicks and Gillett's holding company Kop Investment.

The Americans are believed to have increased their personal guarantees from £30m each to about £55m.

Wild speculation - DIC to buy Gillet's shares?

Or if Gillett no shows where does this leave Hicks with the Ltd Company? Can he do it himself if he gets the funds?

Two more potential cons

- their relationship with the manager is frosty at best, and regardless of the poor performance of the team at the mo, the owners have not handled this well

- they considered a management team of Parry and Klinsmann
