althought it's a fair point that they're probably our most potent three attacking players.

I described that team yesterday, with Babel and Gerrard switching flanks.

at least that's how milan lines up in their usual formaion with pirlo staying back, collecting the ball and spraying passes but well shielded by Gattuso and ambrosini their midfield disruptors/ball-winners, while Kaka and seedorf 'floats' around inzaghi

based on my observation that he will be more potent there than Babel who himself looks better on the right. Still they 'float' around Torres meaning that they will interchange flanks and around..

But if you played a natural left-footer there, he wouldn't need to cut in...

unfortunately, our left-footers left their feet somewhere else but if you insist, kindly pick from the what we have: kewell/risse/fabio. Yeah not much choice there but hey Gerrard ain't too shabby with his left and Babel seem to prefer his right most of the time

Out of what we have, I'd play a 4-2-3-1 system. Alonso and Masch in the middle, Gerrard, Babel and Yossi interchanging and swapping all through the match, and Torres.

 

But in your model, I would start with Gerrard on the right and Babel on the left. Gerrard's the stronger of the two on either wing, so play him in his natural position as Babel is going to be cutting in all the time anyway

That team will be narrow as f***, same old problems.

 

Babel cuts in, Gerrard cuts in and we have 5 players on top of each other.

 

Its also 1 up front, something Rafa was crucified for a few weeks ago.
