dodgy1 Posted January 17, 2008 Author Posted January 17, 2008 Joked about this with a Goerdie mate yesterday Its not a joke though
Knox_Harrington Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 Its not a joke though It's not going to happen.
dodgy1 Posted January 17, 2008 Author Posted January 17, 2008 It's not going to happen. If you say so
Knox_Harrington Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 (edited) If you say soIf Rafa was to go NOW, right NOW then I'd say there would be a decent chance of Dalglish coming back to be caretaker till summer for us to get someone else in at that stage. Dalglish is clearly happy with his lot outside football and we wouldn't be in Newcastle-esque straits wherein we have to cast about for a manager; we'd have the pick of Europe pretty much. Why would Kenny want the stress of one more go full time and why would we want to foist that upon him? Life President isn't a bad shout should there be a change of ownership, but would an honourable man like Kenny take it off David Moores? And that's still dependent on there being a change of ownership. EDIT: Unless you've spoken to Kenny himself or to someone who has and he's said it's a goer then it isn't a smart bet. Spike Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 sentimentality is not the way to go. Especially if our club is ruthless / stupid enough to get rid of our most astute and abled manager in the near 20 years since the king last managed us

DonRafa Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 Worth a tenner to replace Rafa in the summer ? Anyone ? Rafa won'y be getting replaced by anybody because Rafa will still be our manager. Sick to death of these kind of threads. The media are doing enougth s*** stirring , no need for our fans to do it for them
Knox_Harrington Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 The media are doing enougth s*** stirring , no need for our fans to do it for themI agree with the sentiment but I really don't think we can demonise the media over this one. Firstly, Hicks' wildness gives credibility to everyone who said we spoke to Klinsmann, secondly, it gives credibility to anything, thirdly, the media have been very very supportive since Hicks spoke out.
DonRafa Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 Aye, you are right Knox, more properly I should have said the Hick has been stirring it up nicely. I'm just hitting out at any thing that moves, because I'm cut to the soul to see our great club embroiled in all this schit. I feel I've tumbled with Alice into Wonderland, except there's nothing wonderful about it.
RafaShanks Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 Should have been part of the board with the Kraft takeover.
Guest Disintegration Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 (edited) You never know what they might attempt as a PR measure, do you? For all of his brilliance in a bygone era, Kenny Dalglish returning as manager would kill any pretentions of future success once and for all. Still, fans of clubs like Chelsea and Manchester United would get a good laugh out of it though. Furthermore, I'd lose every last drop of respect for him if the Cowboys sacked Rafa and he took the job. I think he's a big enough man to turn down any sort of offer should it come his way though. A figurehead, public relations / spokesman style role under new ownership would be brilliant for all concerned though. Edited January 18, 2008 by Disintegration

Seems to be quite a few out there getting their opinion in.

Bizarre statement If he was offered the job and took it, you'd lose respect for him? Insane.

Guest Disintegration Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 (edited) Bizarre statement If he was offered the job and took it, you'd lose respect for him? Insane. Yes. If Rafa lost his job due to Hicks' ridiculous behaviour and Kenny took the job, it would expose him to be no better than the Texan. I really think Kenny is savvy enough to know that and I couldn't see him taking the job under their rule. If they *did* pull off such a move, the sad thing is that there would be a portion of slobbering, pathetic, overly sentimental fans who'd let Hicks & Gillett off the hook somewhat because they'd brought back a much loved figure from the past.
