ricflairandy Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 Now im not elevating rafa to hero worship for this theory before some of you start, as 2005 did that for me . but do you think he got wind of these schisters and their lies last saeson? I mean they promised the world, and his outburst after athens was extremely un rafa like. Since then, hes dropped a few more hints about them and as we all now know, they are full of it. Talked about a stadium bigger than the mancs, then shown us plans for an outstanding worlds best 60 thousand seather, and now we will get an mfi standard parrybowl. Infact, i wouldnt be suprised if they start talking about a shared stadium next. Promised millions for new players, i thin 70mil plus at one point gillet prmised. We spent anet of 25 or so, despte getting 20 million more prem money and rafa only getting what looks like 1 of his targets, the rest seem to be "cheaper " options. Yes , they brought mascherano in for f*** all on laon, and despite the success of him as a player they are reluctant to make it permanent(or the real answer, they have no cash). I dont want t go on , as you all know the rest, it just goes on and on, but do you think there is a possibility that rafa or someone got wind of the bulls*** last saeson? And if so, could this be why they are trying to force him out or make him look like such a fool that will slowly turn against him.
Rich Gobey Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 It would appear so, It put the Athens outburst into some perspective.

So far the Yanks have been blowing smoke, they've not actually delivered on anything. Sadly they are the owners and its going to take a Russian Billionaire to buy them out (at a profit to them) for this club to return to its usual classy slightly understated method of doing business. examples: when GH was sacked he went on air saying how much he loved the club and was sorry he couldnt deliver what the fans wantedwhen rafa was signed he went on air, saying I've come to liverpool to win things, not to improve my english
MFletcher Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 It puts Rafa's comments in the media into perspective really. He must've been arsed about before Athens as well - regarding transfers for the summer. They've then taken loans to cover the costs (after refusing to fund the initial deals I suspect), fully aware that the fans aren't going to support the sacking of a man who has narrowly missed out on number six.
DonRafa Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 After the Athens final, I think when our lot had gone up to get the medals, Gillette, all beaming smiles, went to shake Rafa's hand. Rafa, clearly upset at the result, face like thunder, just sorta brushed past him. Gillette looked a 'well whats up with you, pal?' look as the smile froze on his face. Anyone remember that?
R A Softlad Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 Does indeed but f**k it we should sack him anyway. Rafa's very much one of us. Long may that continue.
Paisley Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 In a way I think he did yes. Rafa knows what's needed to get us competing with Man U and Arsenal, and if he isn't getting the support he was promised from the owners then he's not the type of person to just happily accept that. That's one reason why he's successful. I just hope he sticks this period out and we can all start again with new owners (please God).
floyd Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Rafa never bought into this Snoogy Doogy shyte. These two tw4ts know it.

These two tw4ts know it. Yep, my take on it too. Thats why they want rid. Must have been quite a shock, having an 'employee' like Rafa to deal with Like Paisley, above I just hope he will tough it out, and I think he will. My fear though is that these clowns will get the loan deal they need. If that happens, they will surely get rid of Rafa in the summer, and that will may be just for starters
Skillz Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 Totally agree with theme of this thread. Rafa is a workaholic with a steely determination to succeed. His Father was in the Media I believe as well. Personally think Rafa is a master of using the media to his/our advantage. He saw what these pricks were up to a long time ago. The "Athens" spit shocked me at the time, I thought "WOW" thats out of charachter. Now I realise he was just making sure the Yanks stood by their promises. After that I think G&H realised he was a bit to clever for them and started their search for a "YES" man. Keep fighting the good fight Rafa. Anyone who will go the extra yard, even to the detriment of their own position get a whole lot of respect from me. If you left today I would still hold you in the highest regard of anyone I have seenor heard of. LEGEND.
Stevie H Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 It puts Rafa's comments in the media into perspective really.is it possible that rafa's 'coaching and training my team' press conference was sparked not only by hicks' comments in the press but also that he knew they were meeting with klinsmann?
Skillz Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 is it possible that rafa's 'coaching and training my team' press conference was sparked not only by hicks' comments in the press but also that he knew they were meeting with klinsmann? If I was to bet on it I would say he had just been told he will not have the transfer funds he was promised AGAIN. In particular the funds for Masher. He spat it and they told him to concentrate on coaching the team. The w*****s.
Rimbeux Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 is it possible that rafa's 'coaching and training my team' press conference was sparked not only by hicks' comments in the press but also that he knew they were meeting with klinsmann? I'm very sure. It was at the end of a three week stand-off, during which he'd been told to stop going after players. I was sure at the time he had reason to fear for his job, and am now sure knowledge of the meeting or contact before the meeting was part of what fed that.

It's on thing to not be in 1st place, it's another to be in the clutches of Villa, Everton, Man City. Moreover, he also said himself he was satisfied in the summer and January is very rarely a time to buy top players. Did he save us some heartache in the future, sure, but up to now money's not been the issue.

The issue has been a civil war going on behind the scenes at Anfield and finally breaking out into the open. Have "Villa, Man City, and Everton" been dealing with that?
RP Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 Does anybody still feel strongly that Rafa behaved in a "childish" way? Loads of people maintained this stance for ages after the Press Conference and NUFC 'tracksuit' game - disagreed at the time and sunsequent disclosure have surely proved that Rafa really is one if us and is also a master strategist.

I think it was mostly people who had it in for rafa I always thought he was 100% correct in what he did, and he must have had a bloody good reason to do it
abc Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 I do apologize if this has been covered but... This past summer saw a record TV deal brokered in which Premiership clubs stood to get a lot of money - how much did we get exactly, and where has that money gone?

DonRafa Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 I always thought he was 100% correct in what he did, and he must have had a bloody good reason to do it Aye, me too. This is a man, remember, who as a child mastered some geeky strategic game for fun! The outburst after Athens was the first shot, thats for sure. I bet Rafa sussed these guys out pretty quickly If Hicks walks, and my gut feeling is that he will, I believe that the now infamous 'I'm just concentrating....' pc could well be described as "what a hit, son. what a hit!"

It will pipeline through at the end of the season, but most clubs will arrange their transfer payments accordingly. Although we also had the small matter of £21m in interest payments to look after
David Hodgson Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 Does anybody still feel strongly that Rafa behaved in a "childish" way? Loads of people maintained this stance for ages after the Press Conference and NUFC 'tracksuit' game - disagreed at the time and sunsequent disclosure have surely proved that Rafa really is one if us and is also a master strategist. Yep, I think Rafa clearly got wind of the Klinsman thing, and realised his number was up unless he did something about it. What he did next was to very deliberately and cunningly anchor himself to the fans, in a way he has never particularly gone out of his way to do in the past. It's almost as if, in a good way, he's placed the fans in front of him, as a metaphorical human shield - 'you'll have to get past the people to get me out ya yankee f*ckers'. For me, it demonstrates his brains and his love of his job, in equal measure. Make no mistake Rafa loves everything about Liverpool. A Wirralite mate of mine whose missus knows Rafa's missus, said she was in tears recently at talk of them having to uproot. Let us not underestimate the ties that bind this man to this city and this club.
Lanus Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 Good point Ricflairandy, I'd forgotten about that whole episode. yes it was very unlike Rafa but I think you're dead right there actually. The unfortunate thing is, Rafa's reputation has been dragged through the mud since then. Who knows, maybe DIC will buy the club and treat Rafa better, maybe they'll fire him and hire Staunton... I find myself willing to take the risk though as these guys have offered nothing to the club yet except the money for Torres.. it's come at a high price though.
