95% of the people on here, including me, scoffed at all this talk over the past few months as paper rubbish, trying to destabilise the club etc. Ive sat there on a Sunday morning raging at Jimmy Hills Sunday supplement at the hacks on there claiming this and that about Rafa.

As with most things, it's not all or nothing. There are writers who have earned the right to be listened to on a matter because of their track record or because you know who they are close to. It's not about secret codes or anything, but it's very possible to sift through the bulls*** and get something like the real picture. Believing everything or nothing doesn't really work.

If you wake up one morning and everyone is saying the same thing, then someone has obviously been talking behind the bike sheds. if someone seems to have an unusual amount of detail, second and third level stuff, places, times, it smells of someone talking.

At the risk of over generalising I think we have a huge 'blind spot' as a collective support. Well founded suspicion of the media has led to a culture of reflex denial, anything and everything is suspect and the media are always presumed to have a hidden agenda and ulterior motives. Of course sometimes that's spot on but just like the boy that cries wolf if you make it an article of faith then you'll miss the times when there really is something in what's being reported.
